Congratulations and good luck. If you like that Charger as much as I like my 68 you'll be forever broke trying to make it perfect. Take it slow and do it right the first time.

I agree, take your time, do it right, enjoy the journey, and take lots of pics for us!

how was the trip up there?..  :popcrn:
I really enjoyed your gittin her off the trailer at 2:00 am story, reminds me of so many little itty bitty things that grew into sagas of epic proportions to git mine done,.. of course this was back in the pre internet days when I could just act out the dramas around a fire in the cave...
lookin forward to this restore...

The good thing about your car is that the sky's pretty much the limit as far as what direction you go. When someone gives you any hell about the non-factory original modifications you'll most likely make just show them the before pictures and they'll shut right up.

moparnole

Yea, that is a pretty basic Charger, should make a nice R/T clone one day!!
The trip down there was VERY uneventful, until we got to Palm Beach and got lost, but we figured out that if we listen to the GPS we could more often than not avoid that.

Finn

Nice score man! Lots of needed parts seem to be there. Good luck and keep us updated.

good luck on your project, it's nice to know that some of the old "ex-warriors' are still being saved from the crusher.  I admire you for taking this project on.

Yea, new owner of MOST of a 1970 Dodge Charger!!

What is the cheapest, most reliable place to get body parts for this bad boy?
Also is there any place where I can get the rear quarters with the part of the roof on it for under $750?

mopar73

AMD is your best bet.  remember, you get what you pay for :Twocents:

skip68

AMD .   :2thumbs:   They make door skins , roofs, hoods, full quarters, fenders, trunk lids, floor pans and a few more things I think.   That car can be fixed, no problem just a few bucks.    :2thumbs:

It'll probably cost you 750.00 per side for full quarters from Auto Metal Direct + shipping.

moparnole

It is funny because every time I leave the house, I am paranoid about someone stealing the Charger, and I know that with 3 flat tires it isnt going anywhere,I don't know, I guess it is because I just got it after wanting one for 10 years....

By the way, the car came with a left, and right side quarter panel skin, is there a way these will work, or will it be to thin?

skip68

:2thumbs:  You got some metal to use.  They should work.    :yesnod:    I know the feeling of keeping the car safe.  When I got mine it had no engine, tranny or interior but I still thought somebody might take it.  Keep it covered.

Back 8 years ago we had a go-cart that we kept back there and it got stolen, but honestly I think that if they have the same problems we had trying to get it OFF the trailor, they just might bring it back

moparnole

What do you guys think about the idea of parting this car out? My dad seems to think that I could make my money back and then some off of it, but I feel that with the economy that people wont be willing to buy, or pay a price that we want for it, what do you guys think?

moparheater

I think somebody already parted it out for you! If you are getting cold feet about this big project then sell what you can and save up for a more complete project. You'll save more time and money in the long run by spending more up front.

moparnole

I would like to keep and restore this car, my dad is on the verge of retirement and looking for something to do after work to get a little income, and he was suggesting parting out my rusty amputated baby, with all the parts that are pictures, do you think I could get 1,500 out of it?

OldGuy

It doesn't look like there is much to part out - roof and doors, chrome and some of the parts he gave you.  You might make your $500 back, but no much more than that.

moparnole

What about selling all the parts that came with it that are pictured?

OldGuy

Can't tell what all you have besides one fender, your bumpers and looks like a trunk lid.  The interior parts (door panels, etc.) aren't worth much - most of that can be bought new through Legendary.  Thing to do is make a list of everything you feel can be parted and sold, check E-Bay or "Parts For Sale" on this site and other Mopar sites for prices on like kind parts and add it up.

moparnole

so the general consensis is that I would be better to keep what I have and build on it?

69*F5*SE

No, not really.  The tail light trim panel, tail lights, tail light cover (big black plastic piece that mounts over the light housings in the trunk), bumpers, decklid, doors etc. are all sellable. You're better off selling everything you can and save your money for something better. That thing is too far gone and is worth more in parts.  Do yourself a favor and start listing the above parts with pics to try and recoup your $500.  I'm just being truthful and realistic.  I know you're excited to have it but, you're better off without it.  You'll probably make a few extra bucks too once you've sold what you can.  Those quarter skins might be a hard sell so good luck with them.  Someone had to tell you, may as well be me.   :Twocents:
