Well it took a while, but now I am the owner of a 1970 Charger.
I paid just $500 for it, and it came with ALOT of parts inside just for me!!
I know that this is one ROUGH Charger, but I think that it can be restored, and also has nice frame rails :2thumbs:

Congrats!!! The roof and other parts look burnt....or is that just surface rust? Somebody did a good number to that thing! Glad you are saving it! Good luck with the restoration :2thumbs:

And now for the crazy story of how we got it off the trailor. When we finally got home a 2:00 a.m., we decided to go ahead and take it off the trailor, because we had to return it the next morning. So first we took the trailor and backed it up to a shed around back, but when we got there we discovered that the Charger was NOT going to come off because the front of the trailor was in a dip, making the Charger lean forward, but being hardheaded, we decided to go ahead and try our luck with using a hand winch to pull it off, and that never really had a chance, so we then decided that we would try it on a hill, so we pulled up a little bit, but the same thing happened.....NOTHING, so then we decided that we were going to tie a strap around the rear axle, and the other to a tree and just pull out from under it, foolproof right?...Well until we tried it. we got the car to move just a little bit, until the rear tires were on the ramp, and then my Dad's Yukon decided it did'nt want traction anymore, but that didnt stop him, he kept on trying until we were certain that it was not going to come off the trailor that way. But the a stroke of genius hit us, we would take my grandpa's '79 phord, and pull the Yukon while it was pulling the Charger, problem solved and we get to go to bed....nope. the old phord started then quit, and it would not start, so then ANOTHER stroke of genius, why dont we use my Supra to pull it out? Well at this point I had been up 22 hours, and was not in a very good mood, and ticked off that we were having all these problems unloading it, so when I got my car out I decided that I would be sure to yank the Yukon across the street if I had to, so we put a hitch on the Supra, and tied a BIG rope to my car, and ther Yukon, and when he started pulling, I gave it gas and stalled it, determined not to do that again, I buried my foot in it, and lit the rears up in a cloud of smoke, and pulled the big bad SUV out of the little grass hill (as shone in the pictures) and the Charger came off the trailor and didnt hit anything.By then it was 4:00 a.m., and time to go to bed.

Some one took the fender tag off of the car, but the motor in it now is a 318, and as for the roof it is just surface rust.

Do you own an air compressor and a sand blaster?  Welder?  Rotisserie?  I would start with those 3 things first and a couple ($4000) worth of sheetmetal from AMD and you'll be back in good shape.  Good luck grasshopper!   :2thumbs:

Looks like a bit of work but restorable. Is it an SE?

Good luck!

Congratulations and good luck. If you like that Charger as much as I like my 68 you'll be forever broke trying to make it perfect. Take it slow and do it right the first time.

I have no idea if it is an SE, the only thing there is the VIN#

It's great to see your appreciation for owning a 2nd gen Charger.  They only made them once and it's great to know that car will be on the road once again.  Good Luck and keep in touch with more cool pictures. :2thumbs:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Wow...  Good luck, is all I can say...

I'm not a '70 expert but wouldn't XP mean 383 at least? Or is that just a trim code letter? I can't see someone putting a 318 in a big block car though.

Anyway, looks like a good start on your project. All the sheetmetal you're going to need is being reproduced so all you need is $$$$$$$$$$$. Why did you end up with a wheelhouse piece? Is one of them bent?

XP is base model....that would be Slant 6, 318 & 383 from what I understand. I'm not a '70 guru though. However, I think the vin is XP29G...and assuming '70 is the same as '69 in codes, G would be 383.

As far as all the parts go, there was just a ton of them that he had, and I think he just accumalated over a period of time.
So does that mean that the car was origionaly a 383 car?

No, I believe XH means base model in 1970. XP was a step up in '70 but I just don't know if that has anything to do with engines or just trim.

If I had to guess I'd say he's got a 318 500 SE car and the SE is signified by XP in the VIN. WTH are the '70 experts waiting for? Stop buffing that big a$$ loop bumper and help us out here, guys!

Yea, eventually. :2thumbs:

I can't read the remainder of your sequence number but the important part is XP29G0G. If I'm reading that right I'd say you've got what I said above, an SE 500 with a 318. I can also tell you it had A/C :2thumbs: and the door panels look like SE panels too. An XH '70 would not have those or the upper door pads among other things.
