Guys, I need some help removing the steering column from my '68 Coronet.  I'd like to remove the entire column to repair the slip joint that attaches to the steering box.  It looks like I should be able to disconnect the wire connector, remove the 4 bolts from the floor mount, remove the 3 from under the dash, then pull the entire column out.  However, the FSM and Chilton each say I need to remove the horn ring and steering wheel.  Is that correct?

have taken mine out a few times with the steering wheel attached , be carefull its heavier than you think !  rather than the 4 blots to the fire wall plate , i just normaly remove the two bolts on the collar that the shatf goes through then just pull the whole assembly , leaves the plate in the correct alignment then , easy fit back ! :yesnod:
