I'm not surprised.

I remember walking out of that first movie a decade ago thinking, "Well, the Charger's icon status is secured for another generation."

:iagree::iagree:

it can be a fast build for the movies with lots of bondo over the rust to make it nice............

Blakcharger440

Very nice. I wish they would have had more pics of it. The Fast & Furious link will only make the 2nd gen endure more into the future!

So this is the actual Charger that was all twisted and dented at the end right?

NYCMille

Here are some pics of the actual car - I took these last year in Monterey when the car didn't sell... it was "Ok" but NO WAY at $200k... the paint was actually buffed within an inch of it's life and there were swirl marks everywhere.

Note the Ford 9"...

I'm sure it got a better than movie car resto... which means better than some, worse than others.   They went all out... KYB shocks  :eek2:    :smilielol:

$200K is WAY out range for me... and realistically the car isn't worth it seeing Mike's details shots.  Movie star status is worth some... but not that much.   Maybe half on a good day.

I'm not sure about that.

There were about 3 Chargers showing up in that 2000 movie.  None of them had the big motor (separate car shot for that).  The flipped car was a raggedy 383.  The wrecked hulk appeared in the Herbie Fully Loaded flick briefly.  It later ended up at the Volo auto museum with fresh paint (on the still-dented body) and some of the rollbars chopped out.  I lost track of it after that.

So I guess this is the one in Toretto's garage in the film when he does the speech about his Dad

Who knows what its actual value is.  In comparison to cars being sold at Barrett Jackson the car is only worth how much a buyer is willing to give on any particular day. Some people would say the Dukes cars are not worth that much either (me included) but that is all a matter of opinion.  :shruggy:

Mike DC

The Dukes cars would be worth a bloody fortune if there weren't so many of them.

There are almost two dozen surviving Warner Bros cars, and probably another several dozen fakes that have been sold as real ones over the years.  Imagine if all those owners were bidding on just half a dozen cars.

lacucarachaloco

$200k sounds like a lot.. from the pics it looks like one of the hero cars, so who knows

I worked on the last F&F movie for a couple weeks.. there were at least 3 Chargers that I saw.. 1 hero car, and 2 working cars.. I believe there were a few more in various states but they weren't in use when I was on set..

the only time I say the Chargers even moved was when they brought them in in the morning and when they gassed them up and were servicing them.

Mike DC

I think the Hot Rod magazine article called it 6-7 Chargers in F&F#4.  One was shown disassembled and I'm sure at least one was used for studio shots, so that leaves 4-5 intact cars or less.  It looked to me like they blew up a real Charger unibody so that might pull it down to 3-4 remaining cars.  I really don't know anything concrete though.

--------------------------------------------

Universal studios has been displaying some F&F (first movie appearance) Chargers for the last several years at their theme parks.  I'm pretty sure at least one of them is a newer copy that was not used in the first movie.

The studios tend to do things like that.  They don't always make a distinction between a screen-used prop and another copy that they might build later just for display/publicity or sequels.  In their mind it's always a "real one" as long as they built it.
