AFAIK, an "E" which comes after the engine displacement numbers indicates a cast crank rather than being the alphanumeric year code

Correct, this example lacks the year code before the "T" but the partial VIN stamped on the side of the block identifies it as from a '74 car built at the Belvedere plant.

They did use quadrajets, though i believe it wasnt until the 80's.
