Hi....I really like your web site, but it takes forever for a the pages to open. I don't have this trouble with any other web site, so I don't think it's my computer. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Troy

Does it happen all the time or just on one visit? When was this? We do experience slow load times every so often but it should not happen all the time (or even most of the time). I'm working on moving servers again but there shouldn't be a consistent problem with slow loads.

Hi Troy....Thanks for the reply. The pages open slowly everytime I try to access them. There were 80+ items waiting to open just now when I went to reply to you; it took 3+ minutes to get this page to open. Normally, when I try to access or change a page, there is a 1 - 2 minute wait. I am accessing your site from work; I believe this is what they call a T1 connection. Could my employer have firewall protection that is interferring with the downloads?

Troy

Hmmmm, if you actually use the "REPLY" button or start a new thread it has to load all the "smileys" for the list. Like this :D This is the only reason you have 80+ items waiting there. The images are tiny though and shouldn't take long even on dial-up connections. I have a connection slower than a T1 at work though and it takes less than 3 seconds. At home it's even faster. You have to realize that your T1 at work is shared by everyone so maybe the bandwidth available to you is pretty low. For instance, this page took all of 0.091 seconds to create on the server (you can see the time at the bottom of the page). The amount of time it takes for the page to reach you depends on the number of images on the page and the overall network traffic between the server and you. Your company could have a firewall or some filtering software that is causing interference as well. It could also be a setting on your work computer. Most companies try to "lock down" employee's machines in order to eliminate most of the bad things that can happen to infect their network. There are so many things that could be tweaked that I really don't know where to start. Do all other web sites you visit work fine? Even when this site is severely overloaded it shouldn't take 3 minutes to load a page (you'd get an error before then). Hopefully we can figure it out.

I am not having any trouble.......and I access the site sometimes from 4 different computers. Also, when I have to travel I am always in a hotel usiing a different connection. Been working fine.

I am responding by using the REPLY button; there are 80 items and it takes 3-4 minutes to open this page. I will try on my home computer. Hopefully, that will worl better. Thanks for the help.

not sure what a T1 system is....but when I worked for our local health authority last summer I had real problems acsessing the internet & printing ..turned out although all the PCs were conected to the mainframe each individual Pc had not been set with a maintainance programme.  I 'de-fraged' at left a message with the girl I desk shared with to do the same each month and everthing was fine after. Dont know if thats any help at all.......
