Never really paid attention to these wheels before, checked out a car today that has them on it,the guy makes them out to be a big deal, what is the big deal about these???Did an ebay search, they seem pricy.Does anyone have any input as  to these being desirable????

Ghoste

It was an aftermarket wheel made by Motor Wheel Corp. in the late 60's.  They are kind of cool looking but that's about it.  Not commonly seen today but as a side note, there was a MW plant here in my hometown for many years and some of them were cast here.  At one time they were easily found around here on everything but not so today.
Motor Wheel still exist but their operations have been scaled back quite a bit.  Their head office is still in Lansing as far as I know but that's about all I can tell you.
I don't think they are any more desirable than any other vintage aftermarket wheel like a Radir or Hurst or ET or even Keystone and Cragar.

Thanks Ghoste,I recall seeing them in vintage adds and such, not my choice of wheel.

The wheels came out approx. May/69 till about 1973. They were a aluminum center with a steel outer rim.Very heavy wheel but wickedly awesome. Nothing out there looked like it. There are some magnesium race versions out there but big $$$.
I have been collecting them for years. I love them !!! :2thumbs:
Definetly a period piece if one is looking to do that "old school" look. Not to easy to find anymore.
And yes they were produced in Lansing,Michigan by Motor Wheel corp.

I'll have to pay better attention to them when I go back to look at the car again,I know they all had their center caps and as far as I could tell they looked in good shape.

So the outer rim is chrome??????

Eh...   I dunno.  :shruggy:    They're different.

Old wheels like that are size limited... sorta like original vectors.   I see a set of 14x6 and a mixed set of 15x6 and 15x8 (race magnesium) on ebay now.

I had them on my first 68 Charger when I was in high school. They came with it and I knew nothing about them other than I had the only set I'd ever seen. They are definitely unique and garner a lot of interest. A while back I met a guy who had some on his 69 and he told me he purchased them right around the time I sold my car in the area where I sold my car. A know of a couple of guys who collect them but, while I'd like to have a set for nostalgia sake, I can't justify spending that kind of money on them.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

They're also one of those wheel sets that look a lot better on a car than they do in a stand alone ad (IMO).

I got two 15 inch by 6 with center caps in good shape, no rust but with the GM bolt pattern. Any idea what they sell for? I looked on Ebay and nothing on it...be a good time to list them. I wanted a set for the Charger but they are near impossible to find and I bought the 2 I have at a Ford show out of frustration.

I have a set (69 Dated) on Disco-Tona and that 5600 mile A12 Bee is wearing a set as well. I like them - not as common as Cragars etc. Same concept material wise as the recalls.

Troy

Since this thread was originally started I have found 3. The guy supposedly has the 4th but it may not be found until the building falls down. I haven't been following the prices and I know nothing about the Ford/Chevy versions.

Ford is the same bolt pattern as Mopar :Twocents:

Same offset too if I recall. Ok, so I know nothing about the Chevy ones.
