Hi, fella's

Looking for some advice here please..

I have just fitted a Mallory 110 pump, to replace the junk holley red that came with the car.

It is NEW out of the box, mounted with rubber and getting plenty of fuel from the tank.

But its very noisey, as bad as the holley was, could i have a BAD pump here ????

I have removed the outlet hose from the pump with it running, and there's a nice jet of fuel coming out  :shruggy:

Mallory pumps are much quieter than the Holley red/blue/black pumps from my experience. Where did you mount it ? How did you isolate it using rubber ?

Thanks for your reply Ron,

The pump is mounted next to the sender unit, it is mounted on a bracket hanging down from the trunk floor, then the pump is mounted to the bracket with to rubber blocks, i have hung the pump away from the bracket on just the fuel lines, and its still noisy  :shruggy:

I will try and post a pic tomorrow.

I have never run across an external electric fuel pump that wasn't noisy.... in fact the stock fuel pump inside the tank on a fuel injected car I can hear on some early 90's models.

The consensus seems to be that you have the quietest model out there, if its doing the job (moving the right gpm you ordered and it says on the box), you have good voltage to it, and you've rubber isolated it to keep sound resonation down. Then you are SOL my friend.

The best way to keep from hearing your electric fuel pump is to leave the headers uncapped.  :D

Is that filter on the inlet side or the discharge side ? I'm wondering if there isn't some form of restriction that is overtaxing the pump ?  :scratchchin:

I agree with Ron on this, the filter should be before the pump. I run the Mallory Comp 250 on the blown Coronet and it's noisy but no where near as much as the holley's. Do some fuel testing as well to ensure it is getting enough fuel to your motor.

Grip64

The filter is before the pump.

Anyway changed the pump out today for another 110, can just here it running, look's like i had a bad one  ::)

Thanks again for your input fella's

Good to hear it's fixed...i'm sure you're much happier.  :icon_smile_big:

Quite a difference from the holley pumps huh ?  ;)

I run one of those Mallory pumps and its fairly quiet, alot quieter than many of other pumps that I have heard.

The quietest pump that I've come across is the BG 220 hotrod pump...but it needs a return line to the tank.
I isolate the pump bracket to the frame and the pump to the bracket with rubber washers for shocks ...very very quiet  :Twocents:

first off, nice video.

second, whiel we are on the subject of fuel pumps, what regulator are you guys using when you switch to the electric fuel pumps?

Rob R

Thanks for the complement guys...

as far as regulators go I use BG...Aeromotive...Magnafuel for 2 port and for 4 port or more Aeromotive.

Is that a chunk of pressure treated wood above your pump??

I am fighting the same isue with a 140 pump. It seems like it resonates through the gas and the fuel line. It sometimes actually rattle the hard line against the clips/body. I have hoses between the pump and filter/hard line, but still... Pump is isolated from bracket with rubber.
