Hey guys,
found a 69 satellite 4 door the other day at a junk yard.  Took the fender tag off to decode at home and seen it had an a14 code for a special spring package in 1969.  I found an article saying what all the package included and one was a sure grip.  Does anyone know if all cars with this code had a sure grip?

There were several different applications for code A14, meaning that it included totally different groups of options depending on which model of car it was spec'd on.   Road Runners with A14 did include Sure Grip, but not any of the other five models that had a group of options coded A14.

The car you mentioned is a Satellite (RHxx), and that model's A14 options were pretty mundane.   Here's the rundown that I have:

A01   =   Light Group
M07   =   B-Pillar Mouldings
M15   =   Door/Quarter Upper Frame Mouldings
M31   =   Body Belt Mouldings
M85   =   Bumper Guards Front & Rear
S78   =   Steering Wheel with full horn ring
V1--   =   Vinyl Top (last character represents color)
W11   =   Deluxe Wheel Covers

Unfortunately, A14 only includes the SureGrip option if it was added to a RoadRunner (RMxx).

Hope this helps

You beat me to it Geno.

A satelitte woudln't be a bad thing though. Is the car salvageable? Would make a good RR clone if you decided to do one up that way.

Might be tough to pass off a 4-door Satellite as a RR clone though   :icon_smile_big:

I missed that part.  :o

Then again it wouldn't be much different than the people who put the Superbee stripes on Coronet Station wagons these days.
