I just got a call from a friend of mine. One of my best friends from high school (and after) was out taking his dog for a walk. He had a heart attack and died on the side of the road. No one found him for several hours.

He worked out every day, was in incredible shape, took good care of himself.

Just goes to show you, without getting all sentimental, that life can be cut short and to make the most of it while you're here. I'm only 38 years old, and hearing about a buddy my age passing like this is just surreal.

I know I'll be taking life a bit more serious... This one hit close to home.

Sorry for your loss Jeff.  :'( Good friends are hard to come by!!!

BTW: What happened to the dog? Was it still with him?

I really don't have any details on the subject except that he died.. I'm wait to hear now

skip68

wonder if the dog stayed with him? (Animals tend to get protective like that)  :shruggy: :shruggy: Poor guy, way to young!  :rotz:

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

jb666

It really is a shame. I'm sitting here in a state of shock over the news... The whole thing is surreal.

Sorry to hear you lost a good friend. I recently lost a long time friend I've known since early childhood.  It really makes you think about life in so many ways.  Hang in there.

Wow Jeff, that's unbelievable. Sorry for your loss :pity:

It sure does. It makes you realize how short life can be...

It's definitely a slap in the face & gets one thinking of one's own mortality, especially when it's a circumstance like this. Sorry to hear of his passing, my sympathies go to you & his family. :pity:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

jb666

Thank you, but it's his family who really needs your thoughts right now. With a wife, a brand new baby, a gorgeous new home this is a terrible thing...

Sorry for your loss.

I just attended the funeral of a 49 year old co-worker. He died after spending a night camping with his fellow office-mates.
He was fine when they said goodnight. He was dead by morning.
You never know when it's your time.....

Live life to the fullest my friends.

Sorry about the loss.

It happens.  It's scary, but it happens.

My 39yo cousin abruptly died two months ago for unknown causes.  So far the autopsy hasn't even turned up anything wrong with him.

There's no sense to be made of this...  I keep going back to what his last moments must have been like (if it wasn't so sudden). He was alone, away from people, on the ground.. His family members were 4 hours away from him....

Sorry to hear about your friend. Jeff.  We'll keep his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.

I had a cousin die at 33 from a heart attack. That was in the late 80's. You just never know when it's your time to go.

Thank you, and no you don't know...

Last February I landed in the hospital with Liver and Kidney failure (caused by Ephedrine abuse for about 15 years). I quickly learned what "life and death" meant, and changed my life completely.. I went from a 9 year competitive powerlifter to a guy who just wanted to enjoy life as a healthy person.. Life is WAY too short to spend every minute worrying if you can push 605lbs up at your next meet... Who CARES about that if you're laying in a box!!

Hence the reason all of this crap with my GL isn't bothering me.. After what I went through last year THIS IS NOTHING.

I can understand that. I went through a round of cancer that I wasn't expected to make it through. At that time I was working 18 hours a day on 2 jobs. That was back in 1990 and 91. I learned what you did. Live is WAY too short to be spending your time with the superficial stuff.  It gives you a different perspective on life that others can't understand.

Death does that.

I've had 6 family members die in the last 5 years, and 4 out of the 6 were unexpectedly before their time.

I hate to say it but I'm actually getting a little numb to it.  Packing for a funeral trip is getting to be a familiar routine.  Each time it has busted me up a little less.  The last time I didn't shed a tear and he was the closest one to me of the 6.

jb666

Wow... I don't know if I could ever get used to this.... I'm not one to like change, and I always have a hard time losing someone that I care(d) about, friend or family.

To me good friends are hard to come by and even harder to keep... Losing them (no matter why) is tough.....

Hell, I can't stand it when I lose a pet.... Feels like a big pc of you goes away.

Sorry for your loss. It is a real eye opener when friends your age start passing.

Less than a month ago a classmate to my younger sister died from a heart attack at 31. I used to take him for rides in my Charger back when he was in grade school.

Last week a classmate of my wife reportedly shot himself over his wife leaving.(still investigating this as the wife's version of the story is not adding up)
