Not a pristine car by far......gauges are yellow. Cracked woodgrain wheel. bottom of int doors are green instead of black.console insets are black instead of silver. 77 newport air cleaner. orange engine. trim ring wheels. (68 were all chrome) grille looks dirty and aged. No pics of trunk......A decent car but not a top end price Charger. IMHO

Still a lot of questions unanswered from the first page concerning this car.  The fact it's from a dealer makes it at least $15k to high IMO and then there is the unknown of who did the resto/paint in 02.  Brian in the above quote noticed some things as well.  You are getting in the ball park I'd say though and it's most likely time to go and look at it for real or get an unbiased opinion from an appraiser or something.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I found a new ad for the 1968 R/T on craigslist, and it's the owner of the car.  He gave me the number to the shop that did the restoration, has paperwork going back to 1967, copy of build sheet, (original lost), fender tag. it was taken down to metal when repainted, he said no bondo, or signs of accidents.  options: a/c, pw, pb disc, ps, cruise, rear defor, rear speaker. changed it over to electronic ignition because points were too hard to find, and he was under the impression that 1968 motors were orange, so when he had it rebuilt he painted it orange.  everything works except a/c and cruise, but he's fixing the cruise.
so, thoughts?  obviously im not going to make a decision without looking at it, but if everything is as he says, is mid 20's ok?
Complicating matters: i'm transfering to the middle east (military) for a year at the end of june, and won't be able to look at anything for, well, a year.

G-man

I got a 318ci 1968 Charger fitted with a 383ci 4-speed for $20 000.

Car got here, needed seat belts, needed the powersteering box leak fixed needed new leaf springs, bushings, shocks,  sway bar and torsion bars. It was all old and worn out, car was bouncing all over the place. Needed reverse light switch and a new clutch with pushrods and spigot bush and an oil sump gasket since engine was leaking oil. I also got a 750doubl;e pumper holley while i was at it and a pro comp coil with braided holley hoses and a brand new manifold. Total ended up like 25 000 US. Nw the cars like brand new and body was great to start with minus the crack in grill which you cant see from a distance or from infront of it unless u look at it from the side like right next to it.

I believe you can get something real good for 25 as I did and this was when the economy was good.

Dan 68 got me on to it so id listen to what he has to say.  :Twocents:

Mid 20's heck ya!  I was thinking 30ish would be fair but if you can steal it then do it.  On that same token, you could save a lot of coin in a year and cars will still be for sale...What 's the hurry to get it right now to let it sit for a year?   Save up, come home, and buy an Aero car. :2thumbs:

Good luck on your deployment.  Keep your head on a swivel. :patriot:
