Some Interesting Ford Waste Dumping Stuff

I always knew that Ford used to have a plant in my town and it closed in 1980. I also have heard about them dumping sludge and other junk in the town and other neighboring towns. Last night I was talking to a friend and he told me about a 1957 Fairlane Convertible that was dumped next to the river by where the old Ford plant was. He shows me a picture of it and it is mostly complete, although very very rough. I have also heard about engines,trans, and rearends scattered along the river. So I googled it and found a neat website about there dumping here http://toxiclegacy.northjersey.com/ . Sometime in the next couple weeks my friends and I are going to walk along the river and see what we can find. Luckily they dumped the junk way off in the mountains away from where I live.

You have to admit though, it does seem kind of funny that there would be anyone excited about something called "toxic legacy".

I finally got a picture of the Fairlane from my friend. It is right behind where the old Ford plant was. There is even still and engine in the car.

Where I come from in Eastern Oregon they used to shore up creek banks with old cars to slow erosion. Most of those cars are still there.

Pretty crazy. That stuff was removed from the paint booths way back when....and now it is for sale.

Now multiply that by every other manufacturer and industrial concern in the country and imagine the poison hiding in the fields around them.  The other sad thing is that all of those same industries that are racing to China?  It isn't just the slave labor they are wetting themselves over, the Chinese environmental laws are kickass profitable too.

Yes, when we bought the house last year, its a requirement that the well water gets tested at the expense of the selling homeowner.  It was good and the only thing they found was the iron content was a little high which was just an adjustment in material for the water softener system.  One major downfall about having a well..... you lose power, you lose your water also.
