727 transmission monitoring kit

I was goofing around on an IH Scout website and found this little tidbit which I think might be of interest around here. Scouts used the 727 trans so it should work on Mopars.

Kit includes chrome bezel gauge, mounting bracket, sending unit, tranny pan gasket and filter, and gauge installation instructions. Requires drilling and tapping 1 hole in the bottom transmission plate. Installation time approximately 1 hour.

Bull...all it is, is a temp sensor. You can go on the various site (JEGS, Summit..ect) and buy a nice high quality gauge. Only difference is it does not come with a new gasket and filter. Not knowing who makes that gauge...i dont know if id trust it. I like auto meter stuff.

Yea, I know that's all it is but figured I'd toss it out there anyway. Hadn't seen any mention of such a thing on this site.

One can go overboard with transmission monitoring.

Back in the seventies I built a street rig with gauges that monitored both transmission temperature and pressure, the electrical temperature gauge was connected to a three-position rotary switch with senders located in the pan, cooler out and cooler in locations.

The S-W mechanical gauge labeled "Drive Oil Pressure" (well, it kinda fits) was connected to the line pressure tap on the side of the trans.

Depends on the throttle setting. (and mods if any)
