I was about to buy this car, I got the O.K. from my parents (im only 20), went online to get it and about 10 minutes earlier someone bought it. Was it anyone on this forum? Maybe we could make a deal? I NEED this car. thanks

Not sure on the buyer but i was just wondering......

You're 20 years old and you still need your parents permission?

Just 6T9 CHGR

The BIN price of 7,500 was very fair.....I'm shocked that it lasted that long.

Old addage applies......ya snooze, ya lose!

I wouldn't worrier about it to much for getting beat out on it, Lotta rust on that car, you would be at least cutting 40% of the body up just to get rid of the rust and thats not including the floor and trunk, sorry but that just looks like to much of a rust bucket for $7,500 and looks like a 318 car which ain't to bad, but you want at least a 383 car for that type of money....................

Seems to be a pretty late production date on that car too.

Not all that bad for the money in my opinion, but you can do better if you look around and stay away from HLPAG.

What was the deal with the lady on  the car? Was she supposed to be a selling point?

$7,500.00 for an R/T clone that is rusted out? Maybe I should advertise mine as an R/T clone or as a GENERAL LEE.  :icon_smile_big:

Don't laugh...I got 8400 for mine two years ago.  '69 SE numbers 383-4bbl triple green car with rust in the quarters but solid floors.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

That's a good deal? I'm used to seeing that type of rust on cars here in Ohio and it's usually much worse underneath. I can spot at least $1200 worth of new sheet metal and the solid metal seems to be very wavy. I need to put a couple of cars up for sale if those prices are the norm.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

SuBLimE 69

I'd be glad someone bought that one first....way too much rust for 7500 bucks.

This ticket is only $69.00 ?  If I'd have known that I'd have been going FASTER !

joedotts

you guys think it was too much money for that car??? wow.... i thought it was a good deal... then again im new to the market, but ive always wanted a charger.

anyway to point me in the right direction? im looking for a 68 or 69 around $8000 thats in reletivly good shape... thats what turned me on to that car, is the interior was nice, it ran, i didnt think the rust looked tooo bad

thanks guys,

Here is one on this board for that price.  burpinchunks is from the www.cuda-challenger.com site.

My suggestions is to look out west and find the nicest rust free car that you can.  Dont be afraid to go 4,6, or 8 states away to buy a Charger.  I was and now i have rusty junk.

I agree that it might be a tad much but my original comments were going by ebay prices.

Some people only know ebay as an outlet to find these cars.   By ebay's standards that was a decent deal

maybe wait till this auction ends, since no-ones gonna pay $9500 for this car, and call the guy up and offer him $6000 for it, then spend your other $2000 getting it roadworthy.

ahh yeah thats what i thought.

yeah if you guys find a deal like that yellow 68 for 8000 thats awesome... i think i might get it... but its in TEXAS  :-\ and im in BUFFALO NY  :-\ ... how will i get it here reletively cheap by the end of next week?

Personally, I think the guy that bought the car did you a favor. That rust looked deep to me. I'll bet that the frame rails looked like swiss cheese. The problem with that kind of rust is you usually have nothing to weld the new sheet metal to. I think the car was a little high for a non R/T car with just a 318 in it. I would expect to get a real R/T with that kind of rust for that kind of money. If you want a 318 car for the gas mileage until you can get a bigger motor, then look for one with less rust. Unless you have the ability and tools to do it, sheet metal replacement can be very, very expensive. Troy said $1200 I think and I'm sure he's just talking about the cost of the sheet metal. Labor would run probably around 4-6 grand at least, plus paint. I would guess that by the time you were finished with the car that you would have in excess of 25 grand invested. (But then again...are we ever truly finished?)
Save up your money and find the most solid car that you can afford. I would rather have a solid car with no driveline than a rust bucket with driveline.
Hopefully, someone on the board can find you a car.

:iagree: :iagree:

Yup, she added $500.00 worth of dents by sitting her ass on the car.
Being from the Northeast I would have to assume that car is a rot box, you missed nothing but a huge headache on that "deal".

Yes, you are correct. I was only speaking of the actual purchase price of the metal since labor rates to weld it all in may vary. If that thing needs frame rails (real ones) then add another $900 or so plus the labor. This is part of the reason I'm learning to weld... :P

how about that yellow charger i might get? im very very interested in it... ive been talking to the owner

69_500

I don't think that any of the chargers or any of the older mopars that I have purchased over the years came from any closer than 2 states away. Lets see here, bought a Charger in Seattle, one in San Diego, one in New Jersey, one in Montana, and bought a GTX out of LA, a Duster from Wisconsin, Charger from Tennessee. Yeah I like to travel. And for each one of those it was always just a few days trip. When I went to Seattle to buy the car I flew out, and drove it back. Same for the cars in California. I drove up to Montana to buy the 500, and drove straight back. 1,500 miles each way. :)
