I'm replacing the top end of my 451 stroker with MP Aluminum 452 heads and a Comp XE275HL Cam. The engine is lucky to have 200 miles on it so I have a couple questions.
1. Do I have to replace the Cam bearings?
2. Degreeing the Cam, should I need to do this since others are running this combo without problems?
3. Head gasket, what thickness is recamended?
The old heads were Iron 452's and the cam was a .509. Thank you in advance for your reply's and knowledge.

Dean,

(1) cam bearings are fine....no worries

(2) I prefer to degree the cam in...that way there's no doubt about the installed centerline. Degree that 275hl in at 106* and you're golden.

(3) use the felpro .040 compressed gaskets. What is your bore diameter ?

The bore is 4.375, then I had each cylinder lightly honed.

Use the permatorque 8519 pt1 gaskets (.039 compressed) with that bore diameter...this will prevent overhang into the cylinders which can cause gasket failure.  ;)
