Time to add a few names more to the never ending list.

1) Stickmen
2) The Crash Kings
3) Stone Temple Pilots

Last Friday was the "Stickmen" at a very, very, very............very small venue. Two questions, right?

Q-1 Who are the Stickmen?   :shruggy:

A-1 Tony Levin on bass & Pat Mastelotto on drums, both from King Crimson, & Marcus Reuter on guitar.

Q-2 How small was the venue?   :shruggy:

A-2 Including myself, the wife, our daughter, the band, the dozen or so people that work there, I think it holds about 50 people. It's an old mansion that's in the process of being renovated & converted to some kind of new age church. (not my church, btw) It was great to see a band play, in what was basically a large living room. They did a question & answer segment between sets & it was cool to hear stories they had about playing with other bands & musicians.

Last night, my wife & I took our daughter to see The Stone Temple Pilots & the band that opened the show, The Crash Kings, at Bethel Woods, the Woodstock site. A couple of weeks ago my daughter mentioned that STP was touring & that she wanted to go see them. I like them, & she never really badgers us or whines about having to have something, so I figured why not? Both bands were okay, but the sound wasn't so great, including Scott Weiland's voice. On the earlier STP recordings it sounds better & deeper. Maybe he's losing it or maybe it's just enhanced more in the studio.   :shruggy:

The highlight of the night for my daughter was meeting The Crash Kings after the show. She got an autographed CD & took a picture with them. It was all she talked about during the ride home.    ;D

I seen the Crash Kings a while back with Jet. They are awesome. I love the piano work. I had the opportunity to hang out with Jet for a little bit, but didn't get to meet the crash kings.
I'm smarter than I act, But I don't act smarter than I am.

Adding another concert to the list of shows I've been to.........The Deftones.

My daughter Kate wanted to see them so my wife & I surprised her with tickets at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, NJ. They were pretty good, & probably one of the louder shows I've been to. (Glad I brought along my ear plugs.) The only other shows that have been louder were when I saw George Thorogood at the Capital Theater in Passaic, NJ & Jeff Beck when he toured with Stevie Ray Vaughan at the RPI Fieldhouse in Troy, NY.

Kate loved it, so that made it worth it.

Last night I went to go see a band called "How To Destroy Angels" at the Welmont Theater in Montclair, NJ. If you've never heard of them, that doesn't surprise me. The band is Trent Reznor's other band besides Nine Inch Nails & has a more electronic sound & less guitar. They were very good, but what blew me away was the light show. The best way to describe it is that there is a screen behind the band & a three dimensional screen in front of the band so that whatever the lights create gives the appearance of a 3-D appearance with the band in it.

There was an opening act, a band called "DIIV" from New York City & these guys were pretty good, too.   :2thumbs:
