Went to the Big 4 last Saturday. The only band out of the 4 (Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth) I hadn't seen live before was Slayer. Never been a big fan of theirs (in fact, my buddies and I skipped part of their set to hit the head and get more drinks w/ out long lines), but damn, the part I did get to see was insane. Dare I say, they would have  (but not quite) upstaged Metallica, had the latter not come out and played a bunch of stuff off Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets - including Orion!.

next show I got coming up is Coheed and Cambria (again), theyll be playing the Second Stage Turbine Blade album in its entirety. Beyond that, I'm trying to secure Rush tickets and trying to convince my buddy to sell me one of his Scott Weiland tickets at the Viper Room (small venue...like 200 people tops).

Oh yeah...also saw Sepultura a couple of months ago.

Good idea to not take the wife as he likes to hit women, & of course then he would have to die.

True!

I made it one of my hobbles to go and see shows live for quite some time  :coolgleamA: . Only major acts listed:

ACDC - Straight forward awesomeness. Bon's voice was so lecherous.
Aerosmith - Expected drunken debauchery, but they were better than expected.
Allan Brothers - So enjoyable!
Avenged Sevenfold - Ooof!
BB King - This guys ego barely fit though the back door, but the show was still enjoyable.
Bad Company - Solid 70'S.
Beach Boys - Not impressed. Maybe an off night?
Black Label Society - Zak!
Black Sabbath - Wow. Probably in my top three live shows.
Blue Oyster Cult (x5 as of Nov 18, 2017) - Touring constantly for 50 years! Still great.
Bo Diddley - Thumbs up.
BTO - Rockers.
Clutch - You can tell these guys really enjoy what they do.
Corrosion of Conformity - A personal fav of mine. Glad I got to see them even if it was post heyday.
Deep Purple - Incredible. INCREDIBLE.
Disturbed - Dramain's voice has got to be heard live.
Eagles, the - This one was at the forefront of the escalation of ticket prices. Practically had to take out a small loan for the tix.
Eddie Money - Very good.
Edgar Winter - Super fun.
Five Finger Death Punch - Boom!
Fleetwood Mac - Very good.
Foghat (x2) - Saw these guys the first time while drinking and on pain meds for surgery. Not surprisingly, it was great time.
Gatling Brothers - Not my style, but very good.
George Thoroughgood - Met a girl ;)
Grand Funk Railroad - Meh.
Heart - Anne Wilson's pipes were incredible. I mean, wow.
Iron Maiden - Damn these guys are enjoyable.
Jethro Tull - 7th row on a hockey rink covered with plywood. My feet are still cold and my ears still throbbing.
Lamb of God - This one was too much for me...
Lynyrd Skynrd - Oh yeah.
Ozzy - Lesson learned on this one: Drained half a bottle of whiskey in the parking lot pre-show. I remember Mr Crowley and that's it.
Page/Plant - Learned how much Plant actually benefits from mixing and engineering. Still enjoyed it but glad when it was over.
Paul Revere and the Raiders - Super fun show.
John Fogerty - Great show.
Johnny Lee Hooker - I felt like I was watching history in front of me. Incredible.
Judas Priest (x3) - Rob Halford maybe only second in metal voice to Dio. Really enjoy seeing these guys.
Kiss - I had low expectations for this one. They were actually pretty good.
Leon Russel - Good.
Rob Zombie - EPIC.
Robin Trower - Wow!
Roger Waters - A grand spectacular.
Rush (x12) - First show was 1981. RIP best live rock musicians ever.
Sammy Haggar - Red Rocker for sure.
Santana - Spewed politics the whole concert. Shut up and play!
Sound Garden - Cornell one of my favs of all time. Interestingly, he was in my high school class before dropping out.
Styx - (Saw) them from a hotel stairway across the street.
Ted Nugent - Now banned from the indian casino he always played at.
The Firm - Awesomeness. I recall the old dude sitting next to us and wondering what he was doing there. Now that's me.
Thin Lizzy - Great!
Three Dog Knight - Very good.
The Guess Who - Good.
UFO - Best show I have ever seen, hands down.
Warren Zevon (x2)- Enjoyable quirkiness.
Wishbone Ash - You've probably never hears of them. Blew my mind more than it was already - show opener for Foghat.
ZZ Top - They should chisel these guys faces onto Mt. Rushmore. American institution. Straight-forward blues rock legends.

....I'm sure I've missed several more.....

I'll miss a bunch. I'd have to go through all my CDs to remember. Some were opening acts starting out. Most of the country stuff was at my wife's behest. One real stinker in there that was not actually as bad as you might expect:

Loverboy ('86... my first concert)
Hooters (w/ above)
Steve Winwood
Don Henley
Eagles
Bad Company (w/o Paul Rogers)
Romantics
Night Ranger
Gin Blossoms x2
Goo Goo Dolls
Reo Speedwagon
Eagles ('94)
Styx
Kansas
Sheryl Crow
Alice in Chains
Van Halen (91 & 97)
Sammy Hagar x6
Bare Naked Ladies
Dave Matthews Band
Matchbox 20
Train
Blue Oyster Cult
Three Doors Down
Montrose (guest w/Hagar)
Toby Keith x3
Kenny Chesney x2
Alan Jackson
Tim McGraw
Dixie Chicks
George Straight
Brad Paisley
Montgomery Gentry
Barry Manilow (yes... there was definitely a chick involved)

Just this weekend:
Blackberry Smoke (these guys rock!)
Zac Brown Band (awesome)

There are probably a dozen more that escape me at the moment. Some pretty significant opening acts I'm sure I'm forgetting as well.

Time to add 2 more bands to my list.   :icon_smile_big:

A few weeks ago my daughter Kate tells me that a band she likes, "311" is going to be playing a concert soon. I looked them up through the Ticketmaster website & saw that they were going to be at Bethel Woods. (The old Woodstock site) General admission on the lawn is cheap, so I told my wife, "Lets get tickets for Kate & her friends if it's okay with their parents." She agrees, so I tell Kate & she smiles ear to ear. She tells her 3 friends who all get permission to go, & I go online to get tickets.

The lawn tickets that I thought I saw as $5 were actually $30.  ::)

I misread the "Lawn Chair Rental Price" as the ticket price.  :smilielol:

Well, I didn't have the heart to tell Kate & her friends I screwed up, so I got the tickets anyway & all 6 of us went. It rained on the way & sitting in the wet grass wasn't happening, so I rented 6 chairs. The show was pretty good & 311 was very tight & had a really good sound system for an outdoor show. I didn't care too much for the opening band, Sublime With Rome, but they were okay & the kids liked them.

We had some good luck that offset the chair rental & the t-shirt we got for my daughter. My wife found $20 in the parking lot, & I found $40 in the lawn area.
