Some Joe Dirt Daytona Pics From Carlisle 2003

I took these pics at the Mopar show in Carlisle back in 2003. The owner of the Joe Dirt car back then was really cool, & said to go ahead, go right up to it & get in if you like. I said thanks, & coaxed my daughter, Kate to get in. She couldn't stop smiling & I was able to get a few close ups of her in the car. Not too long ago the Joe Dirt movie was on HBO, & I watched it with Kate. I pointed out the car in the movie & said that she had sat in it. She said "I sat in a famous movie car???!!! That's cool!!!"   :smilielol:

Dave, is that Steve Santai? (spelling?)

I can't tell from the pic, it's been a while since I saw Steve. If it is him, I was trying to get in touch with him about some parts for his '69-1/2 Bee that was left in the Lime '70 Road Runner I bought from him. His old email address is no good & he doesn't seem to be on Moparts anymore. If that is or isn't him, can you PM me Steve Santai's contact info?

Thanks, Bob

Do you mean the Lime '70 I just posted? Steve had it listed for sale on Moparts & that's where I found it. I never saw it on ebay unless you mean an older auction from before Steve owned it.   :shruggy:

hey guys, somebody told me that the Joe Dirt Daytona wasn't really all rusted up, but painted to look old and rusty.  He said the "rust" was just paint.  is that true?

Didn't they mention a possible new movie...Joe Dirt 2?  They should use a Superbird for that one.  :D

The Joe Dirt daytona was on ebay.I even thought about it .But you would have to keep the car as seen in the movie. The link featured it as it was advertised

We sold this amazing movie car in 2002 for an even then ridiculously low price of $18,000.

I just remember my dad bidding on it and he didnt win. He told me he lost it by $50. And It went for 15240. Wasn't a very high demand for him he just thought it was a good deal.

Well no body really knows the truth but me  - all i can say is calf classic is Wong - He wanted not to do the deal after he ended the auction due to lots of complaints from bidders and outher offers - but he did as a man of his word and respect him for that as he is a great guy who loves cars and is out their keeping the hobby going  -still think he a little mad to post its sold for 18k but he has to live with it not me - He thought i would resale the car for more - but to his suprise 8 years later its still here , the new papper add for 100k was just after the filming of the movie 2001 - dont know what pat sold it for and dont really care - A hobby is not about money - its about cars and car people and the friend you meet on the way - glad to here Kate still remembers her first time she got to set in a movie car ! if you want to see more pick,s of the car go to http://www.myspace.com/279414915

Well My dad said is was a while ago. I personally don't remember the year, but I do know that he bid on it and he almost got it. I asked him about the auction ending and he says he didn't remember that ever happening. All I know is he almost had it. Not trying to start any pitty fight over stupid shit. Cool car man.  :2thumbs:
