it has a 318 engine...a wierd tranny...i think a 9sumthin....i wanted to know if you guys can tell me what to put so i can beef it up...make it run smoother...make it run with no problems also.....so if you can give me a list thatll be helpful...i wanna keep the engine but get rid of the tranny ...what tranny would be good???what intake manifold and  carburator??
i have like a 10 g budget so help me out please and thank you!

You want a 727 tranny, what do you expect for performance and fuel economy? those are the big deciding factors in choosing an intake manifold and carb setup.

It isn't a wierd tranny, it's a 904 which is the little brother to the 727 and a damned fine transmission in it's own right.  But r biccum is correct to ask what your other plans are because if you are keeping the 318 and only plan mild modifications for it then the 904 could be just fine.

i want it to be a daily driver but still have a lil power

oh and the reason i said the tranny is wierd is because i have to play with the shifter to get it on drive or park and reverse

That just means it needs a little adjusting. There is a locking bolt on the shaft on the underside of the car on the drivers side of the tranny. put it in park,loosen the bolt, pull all the slack out of the shaft, retighten the bolt  :coolgleamA:

The nylon bushings on the linkage are probably shot and they need to be replaced.
