I have a Felpro aluminum gasket and was wondering if I should but RTV sealant around all the water ports. The instructions say to do it and the guy at autozone said to do put sealant around the water ports but do not get it in the indentations. The old gaskets didn't have any sealant on them. Also, wouldn't putting sealant around all the water ports compromise the seal? What should I do?

Paul,

I allways use Ultra Copper high temp RTV on manifold gaskets. Put a skim coat on both sides and just snug the manifold down to allow the sealant to set up overnight. In the morning torque the manifold to specs using the proper bolt sequence. Use the sealant around the water and port openings. It doesn't hurt to put a little sealant on the manifold bolts as well.  :Twocents:
