Can the venerable COLTS be beat? If so, by whom?

This is the season Colts fans like me have been waiting for.  Peyton has gotten the 0-7 monkey at New England's field off his back.  Though Peyton's numbers haven't been as stellar as last years, with the Colts defense finally proving themselves exceptionally worthy this year, Peyton's passing numbers are still good.  He refuses to be sacked too!

But the upcoming schedule is an uphill climb to say the least; the Bengals, Steelers and Seahawks are formadable threats to a sterling season thus far.

I'm guessing if anyone will, it would be Cincinnati.  If they can pick off Peyton a few times (like they seem to do every week) maybe they'll be able to rattle him and have a shot...MAYBE.  Honestly, I'd love to see them go undefeated.  Send those damn 72 Miami alums back to their retirement homes so they don't have to hover around every successful team every year like vultures, hoping to see them lose.  Talk about bad sportsmanship.

Of course, I'd love to see that Miami remains the only team to have ever gone undefeated, too...

They play Cincinnati and then Pittsburgh who both have a shot I think. The Bengals are also coming off their bye week and everyone should be on the field (well, everyone without a disabling injury like both starting safeties). A few years ago when the Bengals were still mostly horrible they knocked Kansas City out of their undefeated streak. The Bengals are on pace to shatter all of the interception records and are +20 on turnovers. The Steelers have a very solid defense and run on 62% of their plays which tends to grind other teams into the ground. Indy has the top ranked rusher AND receiver in the AFC. Ben Roethlisberger and Carson Palmer are the two top rated starting quarterbacks in the league (if Ben is back for that game like he's supposed to be). However, Peyton is third on that list by a very slim margin. The Bengals lead the time of posession battle but Indy has fewer penalty yards. Pittsburgh is way ahead of both of the other teams on punt returns and Indy trails both on kickoffs. I'll definitely be watching both games.

     The Steelers should also be healthy for the game.  This week and last week they have been plagued with injuries at QB and RB.  I believe the Steelers have a good shot as long as they can get the Colts offense off the field in 3rd down situations ( bottom of the barrel in preventing 3rd down conversions ).  They also haven't allowed a 100 yd rusher in 21 games.  Either way it will be an awesome game.

If Indy had to come to Pitt in December and January, I'd think that Manning might struggle. But, The Squealers have such a history of taking the chickenbone at home in playoffs games at home over the past couple of years that I'm not sure that Indy couldn't beat them anyway.

I wasn't able to click on more than choice of  teams that will beat the Colts this year. I think that they will finish the season 14-2 or 13-3. I don't see them going undefeated.

As far as the 72 Dolphins having bad sportsmanship? How do you figure? There is only 2 members of that team that make it a point to get together and make a toast every year when the last undefeated team loses. So how does 2 members represent the entire team?

well being a carolina panther fan from indpls,.....i can say that its tough not to root for the colts....there is no reason , they shouldnt be able to win the rest of there games...they are playing better, and more consistent than ever.....except the special teams play against houston....

but also i definately believe pittsburg/ cincinatti are for real...and jacksonville /seattle...really tend to spoil peoples sunday afternoon as well

as far as the new england monkey,that is strictly a mental thing for the colts,.....they dominated a sub-par team. id like them to have won against a healthy pats  team...that way nobody would be saying what i just previously said.!!!we just straight up kicked their ass...lol.......but a win is a win

So how are you a Carolina fan from indy that roots for the Colts as well? Call me crazy but to me a FAN roots for only 1 team. If your cheering for multiple teams then I tend to call those people fence sitters. Only cheering when a team is doing good. I think its good for the city of Indy to finally have a team that isn't one of the laughing stocks of the NFL. However I'll never root for them.

Indy seems to have fixed their defense, which has been their weak point. Cincy and Pitt might have a shot, but if the Colts make it past them, they could very well run the table.

I wonder though, if they get to the last 2-3 games of the season undefeated with the Divison, first week bye, and home field clinched - are they gonna go for it or rest their starters?

The Playoff's are a different story - Peyton can't seem to pull off the big games, but he's on a mission this year.

I like the Colts, mostly cuz  I played high school ball with this fella', who took me under his wing (ie. beat the sh*t out of me in scrimmages) when he was a Senior and I'd just moved up to Varsity:

ive been a carolina fan  since they came into  the league......i only recently moved to indy from nw illinois....where i chose to not be part of the bear/packer rivallry

its hard not to be a colts fan here.....the city really does bleed blue.....plus its just good to support the home team once in a while.....

besides, i believe the 2 teams only played eachother  once and carolina won......so i root for both teams until they play eachother, which is almost never

If they go unbeaten, it could hurt them in the playoffs.  towards the end, when most playoff teams take their foot off the gas, they still have to go pedal to the metal.  How will the colt fans feel if they lose a starter for the playoffs against Seattle the second to last week of the season when they already have home field locked up.

i agree...it will be  good for them to lose at least once before they get to the playoffs....as a tension breaker if nothing else....but undefeated would kick ass too.....i really am curious to see how this will all play out

I live in Indianpolis too, but its not that hard to not be a colts fan. I have been a Dolphins fan since before the Colts were in this city, and I'll always be a Dolphins fan. Doesn't matter to me that the Dolphins were 4-12 last year.

This city is far from bleeding blue, unless your talking about the city being Pacers fan which also wear blue. Yeah the city is a true fan of the Pacers. Are they a true fan of the Colts? I say not. Think back to 3 years ago after the colts had 2 consecutive 13-3 seasons, they didn't sell out the opening day game. Just 2 years ago when they were like 12-4 I recall them not selling out 2-3 home games that year. Is that a city that bleeds blue?

absolutely no chance that the Colts will go unbeaten. they have barely even been tested so far this year.  my apologies to St Louis and New England fans, but the only respectable team that the Colts have played so far is Jax, and they squeaked that one out 10-3. The rest of their schedule is tougher.  Cincy,Pitt,Jax, San Diego, and Seattle could all beat them on any given sunday.
As far as Cincy...I dont know, they have lots of offensive weapons and all, but.... they also have benefited from a weak schedule. they have lost both games they have played against respectable teams.

i agree with almost everything you say bud.....except ...........if there ever was a team that could go undefeated it is this one.......think about it, this team has broken several "unbreakable"records...

while it seems highly unlikely that the colts go undefeared, i sure wouldnt say never.....they just have so many tools on both sides of the ball

they do have some big games coming up.....should be intersting

I will say this, I think the Steelers do have the best coach in football today. I love his style of coaching.
