Hey Guys,

I'm toying around the idea of not using the factory color on my 69 Charger.  It's B5 now, and WAY faded.  I see lots of B5 Chargers and want something a little different.  I'm painting my 68 Road Runner in it's factory LL1 Turquoise color mid June and love the looks of it, but don't want two of the same color cars.  I am leaning towards a few blue/green colors I've seen on newer cars.   I want something that compliments the lines of the car and it will be accented by the factory white vinyl top.  I'll probably be changing out the interior to white as well.  We'll see.  Anyrate, let's see pics of your Chargers, any years, that aren't painted in factory issued colors.  Thanks!

Cheers

I think lot of guys don't stay with the original color.
Once I had a B5 blue/black top '69 before (very nice color combo :yesnod: ) and changed it to flat black.
My current Charger is red and will most lickely stay red.

Lot of people want to go shiny black too...

I plan on painting my 69 Sassy Grass Green (wasn't available in 69). It isnt painted yet but here's a pic I found on the net of a 70 painted Sassy Grass.

I love that fj6 green.  My buddy has a '70 GTX in that hue, only 16 that color.  I like it better than sublime too.

Hmmm, been doing some searching too and can't seem to find too many that are off colors.  What I mean is not offered by Ma in the 60s/70s.  Newer colors and different shades other than red, black, blue.  Someone here has one painted in a Mercedes Silve, and that's pretty sharp.  Thanks for the pics so far!  Keep em' coming.

You see "lots" of B5 Chargers? I don't see many Chargers at all (in real life - and not counting the 5 in my garage) and, of the ones I do see, very few are any shade of blue. I was digging through my Carlisle pics for the last several years and I believe I only have shots of one. Same for the Mopar Nationals. One of my cars was bright blue from the factory and finding good examples of what it would look like is difficult. If you had said "black" I'd wholeheartedly agree.

As for options, I happen to like some of the darker blues. I had a Toyota Celica in Blue Mica and it really popped in the sunlight. The car had lots of curves and character lines so I figured the color would translate well to a Charger. More recently I've been leaning more towards a bit lighter colors (but not too light) as they really show off the lines. Check out the various silver cars and you'll see what I'm talking about.

This is a very nice car. I believe I need to ask him for a hi res burnout shot for a poster. :scratchchin:

I think 2005 Mercedes Brilliant Silver is becoming the new black. There are several people that chose this color.

Hey Dave,

I think the new Viper green would look awesome on your 69.

Oh man, that  Ice Blue looks SWEET!!!  I like that one alot.  Almost like UU1 from 68, but not quite.  Is thata  factory color off os something else?  Very nice.  Nice to see the variety of colors.  I was actually leaning toward a Pontiac color myself that I had on my 67 GTO.  It's called Mariner Turquoise.  A nice dark bluish-green.  I actually like a color that was offered on the late Fox Body mustangs (91-93) called Reef Blue.  That's pretty sharp too.

Thanks for the pics!!!!  I'm going to have my 68 Road Runner in paint next month and will post some pics.

I've many times looked in vain for dark blue chargers and have posted many threads over the years here and on the old site looking for examples...
I finally went with my own idea for a non mettalic dark blue and it gets a lot of highly positive comments... I toyed with the idea for ten years when my R/T was tripple black and a royal pain to keep dustless and swirlless, is that a word?.  :shruggy: there's a pint of red tint mixed in the ink blue paint so it pops purple in the sun is dark blue in the shadows and looks all the world to be black at night...
But anyhow here's a pic... or two..

mikepmcs

I definitely have always liked the color of Dave's Charger.  Always thought it was a deep purple or something.

that is a great looking color on 2nd gen charger,  nice

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

I plan on painting my charger the same color as my SRT4. Electric Blue. i think the code is PB5. Could be PB3 because my R/T Dakota was Intense Blue. I know they are two different codes yet almost the same color.

Is the '68 next to you QQ1?  My car was soooooo faded when I got it I really don't know if I've truly seen what it will look like once it's repainted... which is hopefully in August.  We'll see.

Love all the colors guys.  It's funny how as I've grown older I have grown to appreciate the black vinyl tops more.  I hated them when I was a kid.  I think they really look sharp on red and silver cars.
