Bought a stock E-brakecable grommet but it doesn't fit my new cable. Just make a bigger hole in it?

The grommet should flex enough to allow the cable end to pass through, put some liquid dish soap on the parts to help it pass through.

Try soaking it in very hot water so that it get softer and expand a little then apply some dish soap.

Mine was also very tricky to get on but it can be done.  Be patient and lube it up good.
