Leave it alone!  :yesnod:

It's been the way it is now for far longer than it was ever Hemi Orange, that's for sure.

GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

Personally I'd leave the car that Doug has the way it is. There is no need for yet another Daytona that wears a custom paint job to be taken back to stock appearance. Once you do that, it becomes nothing more than just another Daytona. That being said, I'd give my right arm for the car. Talked to the Dr's about it though, and I guess the going rate for a right arm isn't near the price for a Daytona. So for now I'll keep the arm, and continue to dream about the Daytona's.

I'm going to leave it the way it is, oh wait sorry I am just dreaming because it's out of my range right now. I love Hemi Orange paint too, but that car has so much history in that current paint scheme. Oh how I wish I had the cash. :'(

Troy, you need to pursue a different Daytona............If I could afford this Daytona, I'd also be looking for a boat to match it up to the original.
Give the car its due as it is really a part of the Wing Car history books especially with Doug's family having owned it for so long. The CornDog resto was a bit of a mistake but after seeing it stripped down it needed too much work & needed to be redone. Doug's Daytona needs very little and would be a joy to drive and share with others as is! If someone buys this it needs to be put in a museum as is or enjoyed for years to come as is. My  :Twocents:

I'd want to find a boat for it, too!

Doug do you have pics with the car and boat together?

I bought a car once someone had owned like 20 years, problem was it was always referred to as "Blanks" car, I finally had to sell it knowing it would never be my car even though I owned it for a couple years...

We are all care takers & preservationists of these iconic marks of history...........geesh I sound like an enviro whacko.........most people weren't lucky enough to keep their original cars much less own them through the 60's & 70's. I'm sure there are several people who know this car as yours because you had it when they saw it. We all will pass so & so's car on to someone else eventually.....

Cheers,

I'm sure the guy who owns Whitey now is glad he's in New York and I'm in Texas. Everyone identified me with Whitey, not it's Dana.. Next, maybe something with a wing...

My best bought my old 318 '68 Charger it was forever known as, "Oh, you own Troy's '68".....  Remember Andy?

I think its easy to sometimes tie a certain car with the person who has owned it for a long time. However if you get to know the newer person who has the car, to me it becomes theirs. If I don't know them personally I still refer to cars as ______'s old car.

I read these topics and can't help remembering in 72 our janitor at Seminole High School had a red Superbird he drove to work! Kids would poke fun at the nose and wing and I use to defend it/him telling them "you don't know anything! These cars made history! Man I got pissed at them! I use to go look at it every day before going home...I like to think that car is still somewhere! Hats off to you Wing Guys!!! :yesnod:

As Jay Leno says, I don't own my cars.  I'm just keeping them for the next owner.

When I had one old musclecar, I was a caretaker.
Now that I have several, I've become a maintenance man.  :yesnod:

I bought my superbird when it was 16 years old, Ive owned it for 23 years which puts me as owning it longer than the prior 2 owners combined.

I think if I were to sell it would be referred to as my old car if it stayed local.  :shruggy:
wingless now, but still around.

it would be cool if I had the money for it--the car could still be "doug's."  ;)

about 5 years ago Mom took the lead in the who-owned-it-longest category for our birds.  1976-89 for Dad, then 89-current.  I tell people they're hers now--pretty wild for her to keep the cars then, and now it's been twenty years since Dad passed.
