Saw this odd topic on another forum so I looked for a news link. Wonder if there's any deeper psychological issues going on here?  :eek2:

My wife is 50 & if she told me she was going to do something like this with $20K, I'd probably have her commited.

50-Year Old Mom Pays Over $20K to Look Like Her Daughter
Posted by Cosmetic Surgery Review on April 24, 2009

How much are you willing to pay to knock off a few decades from your appearance?

Janet Cunliffe recently underwent a complete cosmetic makeover to get a slender figure, toned legs and an hourglass shape that her daughter would be envious of. The price she paid? $20,000.

In a recent report by The Daily Mail, Ms. Cunliffe wanted to look like her daughter, Jane Cunliffe; in order to do so, the 50-year old woman needed to undergo extensive cosmetic and plastic surgery to make her eyes as crinkle-free as possible, augment her lips, and finally achieve her coveted hourglass figure.

Jane Cunliffe, the daughter, says she thinks her mother 'looks better than Madonna at 50'; however, she was upset that her mother wanted to go through with such an extensive operation, and was worried about the potential side effects, risks and problems associated with the makeover.

Still, Jan Cunliffe emerged from surgery with success; she had everything done overseas, and returned home with several bandages and bruises. After a few weeks and months of healing, she was ready to face the world – and her daughter – with her new appearance.

Many people now say they can't believe the two are a mother and daughter, and that they look more like sisters – especially since Janet also colored her hair and now wears the same dress size as her daughter. She dropped three dress sizes with liposuction and body contouring, lost all creases and wrinkles in her face, and finally achieved an hourglass figure.

In this case, the transformation hasn't just taken a few years off Jan's appearance, but it's made her into a spitting image of her own daughter. Ms. Cunliffe spent nearly $20,000 to achieve this image, and she says that she's very happy to have done it and couldn't be more pleased with the results.

That just feeds into the minds of the pool I'm supposed to find a wife in.  Man, if you're married, do what you can to stay that way unless you plan to write them off completely because the chances of finding a "good" woman are getting less and less.

Kind of like buying a used car now days, the body seems to look ok but you never know what kind of electrical problems lie underneith!

If you restore the Charger right you'll only have to do it once!  Good luck with $20k being that last money you drop on a woman like that!  Pffff! :slap:

Once you are done restoring your Charger, do you need to buy new paint and hardware for it everytime you take it someplace, or when people come to see it?

And if you restored it well, oxidation takes a lot longer to run it's toll on the bodywork of the car than gravity does on the body of a woman already in her 50's.  (No offense to any females that read this!)

Its one of the few shows my spouse watches that i can make it through.  Brothers and Sisters is horrible, along with all those Hospital and Laywer shows that she is into.

Its one of those fine print paragraphs that you over look in the marraige contract.  It goes something like this "Before you get married you watched what you wanted on your TV, she watched what she wanted on her TV.  Once you get married you watch what she wants on your TV or else she will talk in your ear the whole time untill you turn the channel.  And when she says "oh honey, can we watch something good together" this really means turn it to what she wants and sit there with her for companionship."    :icon_smile_big:   :icon_smile_big:     :icon_smile_blackeye:

Well, she's obviously not a nut and bolt, frame-off restoration by the looks of it. Probably better than a hlpag job but not a points show car either.

IMHO you guys are kinda harsh.

Maybe she went a little overboard by your yardstick.  (Maybe mine too.)
But $20K is not a lot of money to some people.  It's no crazier than dropping $20K on a Charger's drivetrain.

And some cosmetic work can look totally natural.  (Ever seen a movie?)
How many of you would decline a chance to wave a magic wand and get a free decade subtracted from your wife's appearance & shape?

Yikes now that's kinda hrash. How many would appreciate just having their spouse regardless what shape they are?

What I've found works for subtracting age and improving looks is to find a new one in the 23-26 range all the time.  No cosmetic surgery needed, they just keep multiplying every year, it's awesome. :2thumbs:

Naa, I think sometimes that's just guilt-tripping us.  Lotsa women get this stuff for themselves and then pass off the blame onto their man for driving them to it.

(Hey, maybe we should say we're really building these muscle cars because of them, because we're trying to remain cool in their eyes as we get older?  So they should love us for it and support our hobby?  Hmm . . . )

In my opinion that's not what the problem is in this case. Everybody has to do whatever they please as long as they don't hurt anyone but themselves. The only questions that come to my mind is why would you as a mother want to look exactly like your daughter? I mean it's not like she just wanted to look younger, she specifically wanted to look like her daughter... I don't know but that just doesn't seem right.

I would bet any amount of money that plenty of women who go through this kind of makeover get spurred on by teenage daughter who becomes a hottie.  It's just that not all of them admit it to the media.

20K is a lot...but if that's all it takes to get the wife to look 25 when she's 50 then I may have to give my bank a call in the morning.

I think trying to mimic a specific person is a little kooky no matter who it is.   At least when you take it that far.

ANDERSON - A 30-year-old Anderson woman accused of having sex or intimate encounters with at least three underage boys who were 15 to 16 years old pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Shasta County Superior Court.

Deborah Lee Towe, who was arrested Tuesday afternoon at her Thomas Avenue home, is charged with 11 felonies, including unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, oral copulation of a person under the age of 16, committing lewd acts upon a child and arranging a meeting with a minor for a lewd purpose.

A 48-page Anderson police report released Wednesday shows that a school resources officer assigned to Anderson Middle School was contacted on April 27 by that school's vice principal after two female students told him that the mother of one of their friends was having sex with boys.

During a subsequent investigation, which is ongoing, one of those boys told police he struck up a friendship with Towe while visiting her home. He told police that he had sex with her in the back seat of her car at Wal-Mart in Anderson and that they also drank alcohol, the report said.

Another alleged victim, who was 15 and a freshman in 2008, told detectives that he, too, had sex with Towe and that she had sent sexually suggestive text messages and a photo to his cell phone.

He also alleged that Towe had told him to come over and "do stuff," the report said.

The boy told detectives that they eventually had sex while in a car in the parking lot at Anderson Heights Elementary School.

Still another boy, who was 15, told detectives that he and Towe had kissed, but "that's pretty much it," the police report said.

But the same boy later admitted that they intimately touched each other at her home, the report said.

During a May 5 police interview with Towe, she initially denied having sex with the boys, but later confessed and began to cry, the report said.

"Deborah Towe stated she never meant to hurt anybody," the report said. But Towe admitted that she enjoyed the attention she received from the boys.

"I then made the statement, 'You must have felt pretty attractive,' " an Anderson police detective said in the report. "Deborah Towe stated, 'I did, I felt young, I missed all those years.' "

She also said she set her sights on the boys to protect her daughter from their affections, the police report said.

Also known as Deborah Lee Stoneberger, Towe remains in custody at Shasta County jail with bail set at $250,000.

Her preliminary hearing was tentatively set for May 26.

Anderson police said Tuesday that they received information on April 27 that Towe had been involved in alleged sexual acts with a number of underage boys.

She was arrested on a warrant after detectives interviewed numerous witnesses and alleged victims, as well as Towe herself.

BLUE68RT4ME

What I get a kick out of is when women do this kind of stuff and say that they didn't do it to get attention but to boost their confidence.  How does their confidence get boosted???  By getting attention!  Now you see them walking around with nearly EVERYTHING hanging out like Modanna when she was in her 20's.  One woman I met was 42 and I learned that instead of being her "Mother" she was her 17 year old daughters "Best Friend" and they would go the gym and do things to "tease" the guys together and share stories of their sexual encounters.  Which, by the way, they each would have on nearly a nightly experience!  The women you meet on the internet!  Ugh!

I'm not saying that all women who have surgery are this messed up, some of them are quite private about it, but to many other's its just a key to a doorway of craziness.  I have a number of friends whom are now divorced to women who just wanted to "do it me make me more attractive to you" but seemed to pursue the attention of others after the surgery instead.
