I keep reading things online about having to modify the shift linkage just to make headers fit. So i went to a few local shops and most of them told me not to bother and to get a better car to start with. They all think a 318 Auto is a waste of metal.
My plan is to one day convert it to a 4-speed, 402 CID stroker monster, but when money permits.
I want headers so i can just drop a summit system on it (it has NO exhaust right now. manifolds and a rusty y pipe, that's it.)

Is there a set of headers that don't requite shift linkage mods?

I would also settle for a set of head pipes, with the stock manifolds. I can't find these anywhere. One shop said they could make them for me, but they would be 450$, and not mandrel bent! :brickwall:

help?

Shift linkage mod is not that hard to do.  Works ok afterwards . You can always put a aftermarket floor shifter in.

For $450 you could go to Loews , buy a mig welder , buy some jbend pipes and make your own head pipes. Find a better muffler shop.   :Twocents:

I just got through doing that to a 318.  Would you like to see some pics of the mod?  If so, PM me and I will take some pics for you.
