Was parting out a 72 Charger. Had a breaker bar on one of the bolts that hold the K frame on, on the passenger side. Gave it a good tug and apparently the jack stand under the passenger side frame pushed up thru the rotted frame causing the car to fall off the jack stands towards me. I was in a squatting position with my left leg extended out under the car. Managed to pull it back before the k frame hit the floor. I have always been very careful when working in my shop because I'm usually alone. Just a reminder you never know when something stupid is going to happen.

I eventually won the battle. Nice rust on the frame and upper control arm area.

It's those close calls that make you think the next time.  It's a shame the thing is so rusty.   :hack:

Old Moparz

If you were doing what some people will tell you SHOULD have been doing, restoring it instead of parting it, that never would have happened.

I can say that I took an award in this category a couple years ago.  Rebuilt the whole front suspension and put the correct 4 piston brake set up back onto the car.  Mind you my dad and I have a 4 post lift at his house and the charger was on that.  Heres the story:     http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,13607.0.html

Glad you weren't hurt.  Being there first hand, I know how scary it is.

Doesn't look like one to me. Also I think the '68 is silver . . .

Hey I need that little piece above the ----   Just kidding. Glad you pulled out from under it quickly. That could have really been the end of things as you know it..

My buddy has (4) 6 ton stands welded into some old steel wheels. It would take a hurricane to knock them over, but going through the body/frame is still another thing. I allllways keep a jack underneath along with the stands...

I think that is a third gen charger under the cover. Those aren't GM magnums.  :Twocents:

Tom is correct. That's my 71SE (mistress#2) waiting for me to finish restoring it. Paying for my son's college, elbow injury, job change, too much work, etc. has derailed me from getting it done.

Bull, at my age my reflexes are more sloth like.

Leon, I knew someone would ask about parts. Since my 71 & 72 are almost identical I'm hoarding all the parts (that aren't rusted).

Darryl, that's the rust bucket I towed home 3 summers ago. I decided if I stuck it in front of the shop door so I couldn't get any vehicles in or out it would be an incentive to get it done. Tonight I cut off the door jambs and quarters, unfortunately my cut off tool died on me ::)
