That is really crappy!  :'(

As this is the second thread, in as many days, does anybody have any recommendations about how we can insure our cars while we are restoring them? None of my cars are currently insured and this scares the crap out of me!! I live in BC Canada so our insurance company may not be very easy to deal with.

That and then the town got the damn walls pushed in on the cars :RantExplode: What a shame :rotz: James, I'll look into that. I know ICBC has insurance for people who are storing cars like we are. I'll ask about it when I get insurance for the Duster next month. I plan on getting storing insurance for the Charger since it'll be outside.

Do you have the mentioned car registered? Can't be too many '69 R/T SE's that are triple black. Especially with a sunroof.

If that's who it is, I'd be pretty certain he's a member here.  Used to own the surviving Big Willie Daytona.

:'(

Quote from: WilliesDaytona on June 19, 2006, 08:11:15 PM
I am Gary French, the owner of Big Willies last existing Daytona, When I bought the car from Big Willie and Tomiko, Willie told me the car had never been raced, but the floor above the pinion snubber area has been BLOWN OUT and the X brace broken from the package tray, then rewelded and braced with a piece of 1/4 inch 2 inch wide bar stock, welded to the floor, I know as well as anyone who has had a high horsepower Mopar, that just doesn't happen with a basicly stock 440 and an automatic with a stock converter, I always figured Willie did the old switcharoo and installed one of the Kieth Black Built Hemis and clutchflite transmissions, the floor tells a story along with the fact the bolts that hold the brake pedal assembly in have some rounded edges and the plug for the clutch linkage has been removed and has witness marks of something rubbing in and out of it, then my thoughts were confirmed this weekend while I had the car at the Hot Rod Reunion, areal nice fellow told me he was in California from 1974 to 1979 and can remember my car runnning at Big Willies track from mid 74 to 78, he said it had a Pro Stock Style HEMI and a Clutchflite and was one of the fastest Street Style cars at the track, I asked him if he was positive about the years and he WAS POSITIVE, now let me add a couple more details The Queen Daytona was crashed in 1973, the King Daytona was acid dipped too much in late 1971  early 1972, Big willie told me Kieth BLack had freshened my 440 and put it back in my car around 1979 and it was parked after that, around this same time The Police Daytona ( 1966 Barracuda with Wing and NOSE) was built as thier all out race car ....

Was this car raced ?   I think so...

Does the car have the hood from the car in Two Lane Blacktop ?  Yes

Is it the King or Queen Daytona ? No,  it was called   Duke and Dutchess Daytona

Did Big Willie Run 200s or Torq Thrust ?  He used Magnesium Torq Thrust the ONLY time the car had 200s was for the photo shoot for American Racing

Is my car the car in Two Lane or The American Racing Wheel ad ?   NO, but I wish it was

None of my cars are currently insured and this scares the crap out of me!! I live in BC Canada so our insurance company may not be very easy to deal with.

I know quite a few people who have an old car that's not insured. The reasons vary, like it's not being driven, it doesn't run, it's disassembled, it's being restored, etc. In most cases, I have no idea why someone would own something they paid thousands for, & NOT insure it. It's not expensive to get coverage, even if it's just to cover what you have into it so you don't get screwed if something does happen.

I'll do my infomercial now.  :D

I've had the same company since 1989, Condon & Skelly, & started out with just one car, my Satellite convertible on the policy for $55 per year for $2500 value. That price went down to $45 when the car turned 25 years old. I added more over the years, & adjusted the value of each one as the market changed. Right now I have 6 cars on the policy ranging in value from $2500 for the rough Coronet convertible project, up to $18,000 for my Road Runner.

The premium for all 6 cars for one year, with full coverage that includes liability, comprehensive, collision, fire, theft, vandalism, glass, spare parts, & some more, is $450. That's cheaper than one rust free fender at a swap meet. They have to be in a locked garage, each driven less than 2500 miles each year, & you must have a daily driver that they want the VIN of as proof. It doesn't matter if it's a finished car, a project, disassembled, or whatever stage it's in, all they need to know is that you are restoring it & that you supply photos of it.

Two people I know have a few pretty rare cars & have no coverage whatsoever. One is a '69 Super Bee that's an original 440-6V car, another is a '69 Charger R/T-S/E, & the last one is a rust free, almost done, '65 Satellite with a 440.

Dumbasses.  ::)

i wonder if this is the katrina black 69 R/T SE sunroof car out of new orleans. it sold in early 2006 with it's #'s matching block, no sunroof panel, it was an executive loaded out car, i'm pretty sure i got chris the info. te car then went to michigan, was on ebay 2-3 times, and sold to someone either around KY or MO. i can't remember where. if that was the same car, what a shame for that poor car to survive 35 years, get flooded in a hurricane and eventually die of a fire. that would be just awful

Jefferson County coroner's office is seeking next of kin for Onyx Green, 85, of 1492 S. Shelby St., apartment 2. He died of natural causes April 19. Anyone with information can call Deputy Coroner Larry Carroll, 574-6262.

20 vehicles destroyed in Dixie garage fire
Fire destroyed a garage Wednesday night at a used car lot in the 12000 block of Dixie Highway.

There were no reports of injuries, said Pleasure Ridge Park Fire Chief Vincent Smith. He said firefighters determined no one was in the garage.

The multi-bay garage, located on the property of Marty's Auto Mart, contained about 20 vehicles. Smith said the garage and all the vehicles were destroyed.

The Louisville Fire & Rescue Arson squad was called to the scene, which is standard, Smith said, and the cause is still under investigation. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to get control of the blaze, which was reported about 10:15 p.m.
