OK ,as some of you are already aware, The make a wish foundation ( Along with the help of MANY other people and companies) is building a 69 Charger for 15 year old girl Ronni Steves. She has Leukemia , and the 69 Charger is her Dream.

I would like to try (with all your help) to assist the Awesome People involved with making this dream a reality.

Do you have any pieces you can donate to this great cause?

I have spoken with the Man who is orchestrating the build for her and his name is Mike Meeks, He will be chiming in with the things they are in need of and hopefully can get some help.

As the Charger progresses and more needs arise Mike can continue to let us know what they are looking for at that time.

I think this is a great way to help someone who really deserves it.  :2thumbs:

I read that other thread and called our local Make-a-wish foundation and signed my car up.   My car is not perfect but most don't see it as I do and they love it.  If a kid's dream was to play with and ride in a GENERAL LEE, I would do what I could to make that happen.   :2thumbs:   I too have some parts that I could send that I won't need.

I have a 2 piece Charger trunk pan (Shermans) that I could donate to the cause.  It has developed a little surface rust on it in places from sitting but, if it can be used I'd donate it.     Here's a pic of when I first got it.

69*F5*SE

Hey guys, I donated the above pictured trunk pans to the 69 Charger being built for Ronni Steves.  I feel good that the pans will be put to good use.  Mike Meeks is pulling everything together for the build and the Charger should be ready for the Mopar Nats.  Here's to those that are making Ronni's dream come true.

i had a 1968 charger i was currently restoring i had about 13,000 in it so far and decided to stop and build a 69 daytona out of my 70 charger instead  i donated it to the cause for very little cash in hopes that they could build her dream car it was not perfect but a decent start the first one was junk and the second one someone wanted 4,000 for a piece of cobbled junk dave called me and i quickly became involved with the project ive recently seen pictures at the carlisle show its now ronnies 69 charger thanks to david chamberlain from north carolina and paul jacobs from indiana and a long list of great mopar people like you its starting to take shape and will hopefully make it to the mopar nationals. there has been an outporing of help along with the possibility that good old chrysler may cough up a motor the list of people helping are long and here in a week or so i plan on helping the assembly process the plan is for the car to be brought up to pauls house and a crack team of mopar maniacs to pull a couple of overnighters and build a 69 charger i still think its amazing that all the things this girl could of asked for she picked a 69 charger again from everybody involved thanks

dodgert68

Just wanted to give everyone an update where we are with the car. All the metal work is complete right now we're fitting panels to recheck gaps and adjust as needed. The chances aren't looking good to make the Nats but we're going to shoot for the Chrysler Classic event being held Sept. 18th thru the 20th in Norwalk Ohio. So come out and join us in unveiling the car hopefully Ronni will be well enough to attend and receive the keys to her new car. We'll be set up in the Ledgendary Interiors tent so that will make it easy to find us. A big thanks out to all who have help with donations so far!! Most of what we need is new parts now hopefully the remaining vendors will be able to help us fill that list. Couple things we could use as far as used parts go are the splash panels that bolt between the fender headlight area and the front valence. Also we need a good trunk lid Preferably from someone close by in North Carolna to save on shipping cost. AMD who have been just fantastic to work with said they would seel us one at a discount plus shipping. Thats great but we have very little funds and that would eat up about half of what we have. If you'd like to follow along with the project picture are being posted on my web site www.allclassicsrestoration.com ,i'm doing my best to keep the pictures current. The car that i had for sale on ebay hit the reserve so it shold have sold ,but the winning bidder has not made an effort to send a deposit or contact me as to why. So the car will be going back up for sale again soon. My contact info is listed on my web page if you'd like to call for any ore info.
Thanks ,Dave

I HAVE THE DECK LID.  You might need to do a little tweaking/metal work maybe. You never know with my piece of junk car so I just wanted to get that out there. But it could definitely go as is right now.  I am coordinating with Jeff(jb666) down in Mass right now to see if he can assist with a little shipping guidance.

I'll give him a ring, too. If there's nothing I can donate (Only have a few extra parts that probably aren't needed) then at least I could make a donation. This is an awesome cause that we should all be proud to be a part of.

dodgert68

Just want everyone to know Ronni is not doing well ...so the press is on to get the car finished or in paint for her to see. We still need some new parts mike and I both have copies of the list. And donations would help too so we buy what is needed. Thanks to everyone again!!

jb666

Great.  Is there any chance you could post the list here so that it's not duplicated?

Also, I just spoke with Mike. He's going to drive the decklid down to me , I'll pack it up safely and ship it on my account. It's a 2-3 day ship point from my work to your location, so you'll have it quickly.

I'd go shopping on EBay for a couple of the remaining items, but I figured there wasn't enough time to get into a bidding war!!

mikepmcs

As Jeff said, I will drive it down and it will be this Saturday now per above post by Dave.  I looked at the decklid closer and there will be a little tinsmithing needed on the rear lip but it can come back without issue IMO.

Just sold my 69 R/T SE project, but may have some parts you can use.  As soon as I see a posted list of parts needed, I'll see what I can donate.  I sure hope you can make it happen for her.

dodgert68

Ok here's a list of things we still need to get, any screw or bolt set is from the RT Specialties web site.  Lower windshield molding trim retainer. roof rail molding screw set, rear splash shield bolt set, console shifter slide, console woodgrain kit, door panel clip set, dash to body screw set, sunvisor screw set ,a pillar screw set, blocks that the upper inside windshield trim screws too, peace the rear window lower trim screw too, window crank spacers, washer pump & filter, radiator overflow hose, fuel line to body clip set 3/8 line, seat mounting nut set, heater hose nipple set, cosole shifter to floor gasket, interior door handles, rear axle flange seals(white foam seals), flip top fuel cap and trim ring, scuff plate extensions, forward light harness, console light harness, fuel filler neck to body seal(white foam seal under cap), front splash shields between fenders and valance with mount screws or a sample so i can get new ones.
This is what i have as of now if you are able to supply us with any of these things please post what you will get here so everyone can see and nothing is repeated. Alot of the screw sets are inexpensive individually but all together add up si if you would like to purchase one or two sets that would be a great help. You can email me at allclassicsrestoration@hotmail.com for my shipping address.
We should start cutting in the fenders and doors and hood today, Moving right along with main body hopefully will be in paint by the end of next week.
Thanks again to everyone for their interest and help with this project with out it it could not happen!!

dodgert68

We still are in need of a pair of front splash shields that mount between the fender headlight area and the front valance.

lacucarachaloco

you had some console parts listed... are you just looking for the slide around the shift lever itself or the whole plate?

dodgert68

As far as the console goes we could use a new slide the one that is in the plate is a little cracked. We also need the wiring for the courtesy lights.

Tilar

How is this coming along? Is there anything you still need? And are you still aiming for the Chrysler Classics in Norwalk?
Dave

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

dodgert68

Well a big hurdle was crossed today we got paint on the car so now reassembly can start taking place. A couple things we still need are the console wiring harness, front splash shields between the fender and valance, and the sail panel vinyl top trim stainless pieces. We will have the car at Norwalk for the show and i'll bring my list of needed parts with me so stop by check out the car. I'll be set up next to Legendary Interiors not exactly sure were that will be but if you foind them you'll find me.

Tilar

I plan on being there. If nothing else maybe I can at least donate a little coin so you can get something for it. Is the young girl going to be able to be there?

very sad to  here  ,  sorry for your loss .  Wish she would have gotten to see the car finished .
GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

dodgert68

Thanks to everyone who stopped out to see the car this past weekend in Norwalk. Got to meet firefighter3931 and he was nice enough to purchase the body bumper set we needed for the car. Some of the venders at the show helped out some more parts donations. I can't say enough how generous Jason Kubinski ,owner of Gunslinger Automotive Products, has been with donating many trim items we needed. This weekend he set us up with a pair of sail panel check marks, so now all we need is the stainless pieces to get those on the car. It was a great show if you've never been to a Chrysler Classic Events show i would make it a point to get to one next year. The bigger the attendence the more show cars and vendors are going to show which makes the whole show that much better. And to top it off having Mopar door car racing all weekend makes it that much sweeter. My friend Mike Meeks ,who has been working hard on this project also, was their with his Don Schall Racing 65 Coronet factory light weight car and won his class run offs on Saturday night. Sunday he went out in the third round not bad for not having the car out all season because of committing himself to seeing that this Charger become a reality. Here's a link again to my web page which has pics of the car from start to current it will be updated very soon with pics from this weekend at the show. www.allclassicsrestoration.com

I heard of this tragedy, Just outright terrible!!  I think the car should be finished then the car should be up for sale to danate back to Make a wish foundation or it should be finished & donated to another child with the same desire for this car. Either way the car should be finished regardless.

dodgert68

The car is being finished, it will be on display at the SEMA show this november where MCG will do a follow up article on the project. It was Ronnie's wish that the car be given to her younger sister who gave her bone marrow transpalnts in an effort to combat her illness. Her sister is not supposed to sell the car ever. So when i'm finished with the car on my end it will turned over to the family.

I agree. The car looks nice. I wish I could have given more than the $20 that I did, but I did get something out of it that I wasn't expecting, and that is a message from (I assume) Ronni's sister...

I had posted a short video of the car on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6UMwlxJv5Q It was linked in this thread http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,61863.0.html  She posted this comment on my youtube page:

Thats ronni shes my sister. when she died july 30th she left me that car in her will. someone told me about this video being on youtube, and i havnt yet got to see her car, its amazing. watching this video it ment so much to me, im so happy me and my family finally got to see her car, she would have loved it.

Make-a-wish should have a legal stipulation that if she ever tries to sell the car that it automatically reverts ownership back to Make-A-Wish. That or the car needs to be used with make a wish to help others... After all, was it not built for that purpose?

At this point in my life? No...But if I were 15 or however old she is, and someone offered me a decent price for it.... I cant say no to that one and I doubt anyone else at that age can either.  $10k to a child is a lot of money.

It was a pleasure meeting you at Norwalk and i was happy to contribute in some small way to this project. Hats off Gunslinger for stepping up to the plate. Jason has been good to our members and supplies us with quality parts at reasonable prices. My respect for Jason just stepped up a notch  :2thumbs:

The car looks Fantastic and you should be very proud. It's a real shame that Ronni never got to see her car finished but i'm sure she's smiling down from above. You sir are to be commended for seeing this project through to completion despite the horrible turn of events surrounding the recipient of this gift. There's a special place reserved upstairs for guys like you !

I'm sure this car will be cherished for years to come in remembrance to the young life that was cut short tragicly. My sincerest condolences to Ronni's family.  :engel016:

We still are in need of a pair of front splash shields that mount between the fender headlight area and the front valance.
Email me at hobby529@yahoo.com I have a pair that are solid, they will need to be blasted then painted.  Email me if you haven't found any. I'll give you the details then.

Tiler and Firefighter it was great to meet you guys at the Norwalk show and again thanks for your contributions. I spent about 3 hours today in a little junk yard down the road form me collecting a bunch of little missing pieces i needed for the car. I had some really good news Friday when a transportation broker form Concrete Cowboys out of Dallas TX called me and said they had driver that would haul the car back and forth to the SEMa show for no charge in an enclosed truck no less. That had been the best news i heard in awhile since it was looking like we weren't going to be able to get the car out there for the show. I can't wait to cruise the Vegas strip in the Charger!!

One thing i haven't been able to put my hands on is a wiring harness for the console if anyone has one extra one we sure could use it to finish off that interior.
