G'day guys,

ghoping someone has a quick answer to this. I am wanting to paint my dash frame but can't figure out how the glove compartment lock comes away from the lid itself.

What's the trick ? It's a 71 Charger by the way. I've removed the 2 screws from inside the lid that hold the latch in place, but can't figure out how to remove the assembly. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Peter

I just did this to my '72 Imperial a few weeks ago.

There's a hidden tab you have to press, and turn the key a certain way and it will come apart.

I forget exactly how to do it, but it is explained in the factory service manual.

You DO have a Factory Service Manual, don't you ? :scratchchin:

E5 Charger

It's not easy. It takes some playing around with it, but I was able to take out mine on my 74. Here is a link to the explanation that I used. http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,4692.0.html

No.....don't have a manual, but I've managed to hit the right spring and the latch came off. Thanks heaps for the tip - really appreciated.

You really should get one, there's a ton of imformantion in there for your car.

There are usually two books in the set: Body and Chassis.

They're on Ebay all the time.

I think the one for my '72 cost me ten bucks.

Or there is a place that has them on cd.
