Need some advice, can it be repaired? (PICS)

Well on one of the rare occassions where I had left the car out overnight, I get woken up from my dad yelling to me from the top of teh stairs asking "what the hell did you do to your car?" I immidiately hopped out of bed and ran outside (probably still in my boxer shorts) to find someone vandalized my car aswell as several other cars on my block. Below is a pic of the damage...


I think it was brake fluid that was poured on the car. And as you can see I just tried touching it up with some primer shots to avoid rusting. Damage was done to the front fender, door, and about 1/4 of the hood has some spots on it too. I'm having a hard time decided on how to approach this. I know the paint will never match but how close do you think it can get? Does anyone know what would need to be done? Will the whole door, fender, hood need to be sanded down and resprayed?

The paint was definately a 5-10 footer before that happened but it was a driver and thats what I plan on using it for. I'm tossed between completely sanding it down with a 180 grit and trying the rustoleum $50 paint job but in a flat black (I love the flat look and have put 3 of my cars in the past in it) or just having the paint repaired. I rather put my money elsewhere than the looks which is why I'm avoiding going to get an estimate for the repairs. Can anyone give me some input?

You have no idea how heated I was when I saw it. I came outside to see the paint bubbling up in those spots and I knew what was going to happen if I tried to wipe it off....

Now I'm stuck though. As I said, this is going to be a driver. And I'd hate to start on new task of sanding it all down and putting it into a flat color if this is somewhat salvageable. because all-in-all the paint is really decent aside from those areas.

I know how you feel, my Duster got keyed. I was lucky though because most of it was removable. If it's going to be a driver then maybe do what I did (with my deep scratches). Talk to your local auto parts store. The store here has a program where they have a special high res camera that photographs the paint on your car (for example: on your hood- it zooms into alot to the paint). Then they use that to make almost perfect match paint in spray can form. It has clear and metallic in it. Maybe clean the brake fluid off the best you can or whatever, spray some primer on the spots and then use the paint? Just a thought

What is wrong with people? They see a cool car, go to the nearest gas station and buy brake fluid, pour it over the car?
I'd like to get my hands on that person....

That's what makes me think it was young kids.  No adult would do that to a Charger.  Even the toughest of criminals would hesitate when it came to Mopar Muscle.

Tanks for feeling for me fellas, it really ate me inside for so long but it also was the final push that got me to put it away. I had been using it as a daily and driving it to school everyday (I was in high school at the time). I knew it was a matter of time before something was bound to happen. But oh well, nothing can be done about it now...

On that note, does anyone have any idea on what I should do? I'd hate to butcher the rest of the paint but would that be my best option? I'm also not wanting to spend $1k+ to fix a 10 foot paint job.

Cody right? I see you post up alot and actually came across a youtube vid of your car and I recognized it from the site. But yes, I am defiantely going to give that a shot. I meant to stop at loews on my way home from class today and talk to them to see how I could go about bringing in a paint chip and how exactly that works. Then from there if by some miracle they get something close, I'm not sure how I could blend it into the paint to make it flow all together. Would I have to sand it all down that way there are no "edges" in the paint?

I guess I'll have to just keep researching. I've been spening some time over at autobody101 hoping to get some tips but just can't seem to pull the trigger into a direction I want to go. I was hoping that someone had gone through something similar and would give some advice.

all i can say is that sucks. i am waiting for something like that to happen to my aspen when it is done. when my 72 charger was painted yellow the day we got it home someone keyed and the day my mom got her roadrunner it was like 1am so we put it in the yard with a six foot fence around it and someone jumped it and keyed the car. people really need to grow up. and because i am going to drive my aspen everyday i to school i know something is going to happen

But did you mask anything off before painting? I would imagine doing so would result in an uneven coat and you would be able to notice the edges of where you taped off?

I'd only mask off the chrome, tires, glass...that kinda stuff. Just stuff you don't want paint on.

I would take it to a couple of local paint shops and get quotes on a single stage paint job.

Since its a driver they can surface sand the car, tape off the chrome and windows and if you paint it close to the same color it will be very hard to tell that the chrome and glass was not removed.  I would however pull the bumpers.

If you plan on changing colors its best to take the car apart in order to properly cover up the current paint color.

Its probably going to cost between $700 & $1,000 for a single stage job but defiantly ask around its free (I guess gas isn't free - sorry).

You might even find someone that can fix it by blending. Not impossible but hard to do with a older paint job. Any repair job you do will most likely be fairly noticeable.

Sucks having to pay that kind of money to repair you car being a student but the alternative is do what Cody suggest.

I don't park any cars out front of my house.
I have had to repair the front of my house from kids doing things like this after dark.
Makes one very mad and heart broken.
