For something different.

Last Christmas I got this vintage Eldon Dodge 3 in 1 Road Race Set, which came with a very nice 1968 Charger and a 1968 Dodge R/T.  These were promotional sets sold and given away at Dodge dealers.   You could configure the set for stunts, drag, or a road race.  After I got the set and researched it, turned out it was modeled after the Kochman Hell Drivers, guys that took Dodge vehicles and did stunt shows at the Worlds Fair and car shows and races.  They were damn good.   Unfortunately, they also had a clown, and wouldn't you know it, a clown is part of the set.  I hate clowns.

Here you see the cars about to hit the ramp.  If you did it well enough you would knock the clown around, go on two wheels and land back in the slot.  There was also a ramp jump too.

For those interested in the Kochman drivers, here are some links:

That's an extremely cool set.  I wish I had one to play with when I'm board.   :icon_smile_big:

I love the set you have, great condition for the year.  Whats a set like that worth?
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Yes I looked a while to find one that had the box and all the pieces.  I am only missing the instruction sheet and "towels" (whatver those were) so I had to figure out how the stunts worked myself, no biggie.  These come up on Ebay now and then.  Oddly, a friend has the same set but all the colors on the cars and the Dodge truck are reversed!

About $100 to $150+ for a good set.  There was another stunt set as well that was a little different, a Scat Pack set with just the Charger and RT, no truck or stunts, and there was also a twin Charger set with two fastback Chargers.  I believe there were a few more that escape my memory, but keep your eye on Ebay for this stuff.  Thankfully, great tires are now reproduced, and there are options for pickup brushes, both issues that existed in the past but are rectified now.

I never knew about the stunt set.  My friend has a eldon track setup in his garage.    Frankly the track isn't all that great compared to newer Carrera stuff anymore which has a deeper channel and wider lanes.

We do some racing on Tuesday nights sometimes.   I have a bunch of carrera Chargers/Daytonas/RoadRunners, etc.   I have a dusty carrera track in my basement.

I saw a full boxed set with the track and the 67 Chargers at the E-town swap a few weeks ago marked $125.   Same dude had a separate 67 in a case marked somewhere around $50.    Those 67s are all badly out of proportion.

I know he has the eldon 68 Coronet and Chargers someplace also but frankly the detail on those old things leave lots to be desired.   It's OK for when it was new I guess.

Yes, you can't compare the detail to the new stuff out now, which are really in proportion and highly detailed.  Part of the fun of the old stuff IS appreciating it for what it was.  Eldon was one of the "lower rung" in the ladder of slot cars, usually looked down on by alot of the more sophisticated slot car racers, but again, that is what makes it unusual and fun compared to now a days.
