Is there away to bypass a burnt fuse holder? I want to atleast get my dome light working. Or, can the holder still be used? Is there away to fix it or clean it?

What year? Pics would be nice if you want our opinion on whether yours can be salvaged. I wouldn't recommend you bypass a fuse though.

Its on a 74 Charger. Just the one side of the fuse holder burnt. I can put in a 20 amp fuse and everything works, but I do not what caused it and definitely do not want a fire or further meltdown.

let me guess... BRAKES/HAZZARD fuse ? LOL

or maybe acc AC blower one

Thats the one. Any ideas on what to do?

One side goes to the item being energized, whereas the other side to the power source.  If you disconnect the power source side and run another powered wire to it will it be O.K?  In other words if the hot wire to the fuse holder is shorted somewhere, disconnect that and run a new hot wire to it.  If the issue is coming out of the fuse holder and to the items being energized, then you have to follow each one and disconnect the shorted item.  Start with a schematic first.

It looks like the possible cause might be the emergency flasher. Can this circut be removed without harming the other circuts that run off that fuse? The flashers do not operate at all. Can it just be unpluged from the flasher itself? I will check the other wires to be safe. For now I have the brake lights wired to the acc connecter on the fuse box with a 15amp in line fuse to the brake light switch. (is that safe?)

yes definitelly the hazzard flasher makes LOT OF consumption... enough to not blow the fuse but overheat the outer fuse terminal.

solution CLEAN AND POLISH terminal AND wire on back... I will use also some of those products use to save the sulfats created on battery terminals.

brakes to acc source will make not to have brakes allways just with car on... not a problem but normally you can press brakes with car off.

If you want a quick and perfect solution, you could riveting an eyelet terminal with a wire on same location of buss bar terminal where the burnt cavity did happen, then use the in line fuse receptacle and attach the pink wires related to that cavity, and let in run on back of fusebox or in front as you wish.

got it ?

Myself, I will try to save the fusebox.

I have another underdash harness around but will try to save this first.

Thanks, Nacho. I will try the cleaning first and see how it goes.
