Cracked Frame?

1974 Charger, 360 4bbl.  Under the car putting headers on it this weekend and was working on removing gunk and road crud from the bottom of the car.  It looks like the front end was badly damaged some time ago.  Notice on the right side of the picture.  Not sure what I am looking at.  The car drives straight and I had he alignment done only a few days ago.  Anyone have any idea what I am looking at and what needs to be done to fix it?  Should I just weld it up where it is?

I could be wrong, hard to tell from the picture but it looks like the K-frame :shruggy:

OUCH... yes fix it inmediatly.. the strut rod linked to LCA pushes that arm of the K frame

Nacho beat me.  That is definitely the k frame and it definitely needs to be fixed.

Got any wider shots of the whole thing??
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Seems to be a problem with these cars, especially if you bottom out at all. I have the K-Frame on mine which is holding on but i needed to re-weld. I also have another K-Frame i got from a mamber and both arms the factory welds have broke. Nothing that cant be fixed but it seems to happen alot with these cars. Might be worth it to send it out to FirmFeel and have them redo the whole thing, you wont have to worry about it again.

From the looks of that it looks like somebody "Duked it". Yeah that need some fixing. Looks like the left side may have been fixed at one time.

it did happen to me but just on lower seam when the car GROUNDED after a bump by a irregularity on a street. Welding points simply where milled out. I repaired couple of days later. This crack is some EXTREME.

Just get a good used one. I wouldn't fix it. Replace it. LEON.

I agree. 

They're not all that rare/valuable.  That one is certainly fixable, but I'd ask around locally for another one before you put too much effort into it.   



The moral of the story?  if you can find a fresher one, reinforce these areas before you install it.  A stitch in time.
