Hi,

I saw this motor on ebay but the scoop really got my attention. Im building that 67 440 and am now going to put one of these scoops.........absolutly love the look of the scoop with the three butterflys. Any pros/cons about them? The guy selling the motor said he will sell me the scoop for $100. It would probably be going on a Holley 750, probably street avenger. Any other pics of these on a 440 or 383 would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Nick

Those are the MR. Gasket version I think now owned by holley....

I do not like that version,  personally I think those are well,   clownish.......

I DO NOT think you will get the hood closed with that.....

www.alsblowers.com make some that may as they encase the carb, IE sit around it....

And in my view better looking.

Not that one,  I am at a DIAL up slllllllloooooooow.  So I cannot link the one you need.  They do make one that sits over the carb, meaning the carb is inside.... Looks the same and almost looks injected due to sitting down... The one I am thining of you should be able to close the hood.

If you do not find it by tomorrow I will show it to you.  They will do them black or you can... They are all alum.   just gives it the look you want.

ok thanks, ill keep looking.

Ok, I may have to eat crow..... I cannot find it either,  I have not been to the site and see it has changed...  I guess I must have been thinking of the 500SC, wich is for blowers, which if you really wanted to I think you could still make it work however you would ahve some engineering to do.

I don't like them at all. Looks like it should hagging out the hood of a POS Chevy.

Get a ram air air cleaner. Looks stock and cool as heck.

                My 2 cents worth.

A guy in town has one of those butterfly scoops on his smallblock Duster and he has a big hole cut in his hood to go around it.

Do those really "scoop" air? I think that depending on the car it would look cool, but act only as a snorkel sticking up through the hood, sucking in the lower temp, outside air. You might also consider filtration. Where is the air cleaner in that set up?

Way I look at them is like a inflatable doll. You buy one if you can't get the real thing, bird catcher.

I meant the filtration part as a rhetorical question. I've had one of those "scoops" and didn't notice any change, other than havng to mess arund with the air cleaner more. It was annoying as hell to change it - not difficult, just annoying.
