And what Jackie didn't say here but told me on the phone was, Shelby was also "hit on" by some dam orderly at the hospital too! She really had a bad day!  :-\

Thanks everyone for all the well wishes. Shelby will be on to thank everyone when she is feeling up to it.  :2thumbs: My back is feeling much better. :2thumbs: After being in pain since Feb, it's a big relief.  The insurance is coming out to look at the car on Tuesday, so we'll know more then.

There is a little more to the story.  ;)  I had to leave the ER to pick up Shelby's eye drops. So her friend Steve was staying with her there. I called back and the hospital was releasing her. So she said just go home and Steve will bring me home. So when they get out to the car Steve left his lights on. Shelby's on meds for her nerves , so she's all goofy. LOL Some old guy helps them to jump start the car . Starts his car , gets out and locks his keys in the car with it running. Shelby looks at Steve and says " I'd punch you but I'm seeing 2 of you right now "   Well, they got a coat hanger and got the old guys car unlocked, jump started and she got home.

Good luck with the insurance company. Me and Shelby had a chat about that. Hopefully they're nice and don't try to screw you guys over like the insurance company here did with me and my dad regarding his Mustang. Now we have a smashed up Mustang sitting at his house we have to fix ourselves :rotz:

Jackie,

If you do end up keeping the daytona, send me a PM.  I have a really good friend up in NY state who does custom and restoration upholstery and specializes in Mopars.  If I place a call to him,  I am sure that he could help you out.

Thankfully Shelby got out of the inferno okay.  Being in the fire service and knowing how fast these synthetic materials burn, she is lucky to have gotten out of the car at all. :o  Lets face it, we have all been rebuiding cars for however long.  The daytona can be replaced, but Shelby can not!  Glad she is recovering and can't wait to see ya all the end of the month in Gettysburg.

Brian, Thank you. I really think they'll prolly total it. Hopefully Shelby will have off work and be able to ride up to Gettysburg with me , too.

Worse comes to worse, we will be out there the afternoon before too so we could always get together then.

Who knows, if they don't total out the daytona, maybe she could get a custom pink and gray interior. :shruggy: :icon_smile_cool:

Update, the insurance adjuster was here. The fire started behind the back interior panel.  :rotz:  They totaled it. :pity:  I still don't know how much they are going to give us. I don't have any deductable.  :2thumbs:  I just have to fax them all our reciepts of work that was done to it. Then we go from there. Shelby is getting better, still sleeping a lot. She is still on inhalers and antibotics. She goes back for a check on Thurs.  :2thumbs:  Thanks for caring guys and gals.

It's kind of unbelievable as to what they will total nowadays. Dosen't take much I guess. So if it started behind the back interior panel, was the rear defogger wire the cause? Glad to hear she's getting better :)

Cody, This car is way worse in person. It's gutted. Plus the adjuster said the fumes from the fire ruins all the electric in the car. He said it might work now, but it won't later cause it corrodes everything.

69bronzeT5

Ah okay....couldn't really tell too much from the pictures. I could see the damage but didn't know exactly how severe. Send Shelby my wishes :)

I'm very sorry... but that really sucks about the car and all.   I hope she is feeling better soon.    She was so happy at Carlisle last year.   She was really proud of the work she did.

Good to hear Shelby is doing better. Maybe it's a sign of better things to come.  :2thumbs:

Insurance companies take the cheapest road they can in every case. The age of the car puts it high on the "TOTAL" list automatically. They figure you will have to buy another car and most will buy a newer car. That will raise your rates in most cases and they will end up further in the green. Many times when cars are repaired they continue to have problems and people are not happy with the results. Been there myself on a Final 500 Oldsmobile. Should have let them total that car when they wanted to..  :rotz:

Good luck with the new car hunt Shelby..

Thanks for the pics, Brian.  Shelby wasn't come to Carlisle after this. But I talked her into it. Besides Dan would be mad if he didn't have someone to fall asleep at the drags with him.    We found her a Neon. It will be ready in 3 weeks. We're buying it from my mechanic so I know it's a good car.  :2thumbs:  And we'll prollly take the wheels, tires and battery out of her car and switch it to the Neon before they pick it up.

It was AFTER all that went down.       I took some pics of Shelby by my car and hers and then I left for home.    :shruggy:

I'm glad to hear Shelby isn't any worse off, that's really a lame thing to have happen. Show us some Neon pics, when you can.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Jackie,

How did Shelby make out at the docs today?  Good news and progress I hope?

Also, didn't Shelby have someone sign the door jamb of her car?  If so, be sure to chop that part of the car before you have it junked.

Brian, Thanks for asking. She doesn't have to be on antibotics anymore.  :2thumbs:  She is still on inhalers and wil be for a little while. I was thinking about cutting that out of the doorjam. But I don't know how  the insurance would do. They are already letting me switch the wheels, tires and battery. And only took $100 off the settlement for me too do that. So we will have enough money to buy her the Neon.  :2thumbs:
