Need help decoding.....

I need help finding out what gears I have in my rear end I read that you can find out what you have by decoding the fender tag. Can someone be kind enough to help me do this or tell me how to do it? Thanks, Paul

A 981 axle code (top line) = 2.71 gears with 8.25 assembly.

And yes, that would be a "2" to go with the the 6 indicating a 26" radiator.
