Just wondering...Im starting to make moves toward finally painting the 68. I know the original color is a kind of pale yellow. Where is the best source to buy this paint now?

Chatt69chgr

Your original color was Sunfire Yellow.  In 69 that was Y2 paint code and was the same color as in 68.  Not sure if that was the code in 68 or not.  Every town has a place where most of the body shops go to buy their paint and other body shop supplies.  I'd go there.  They should be able to mix that color to code with the new modern base coat/clear coat paints.  They can also advise on primers compatible with the paint they sell.  The modern paints contain substances which are deadly if breathed.  That's why those guys that paint cars wear the space suits.  Plus they have a breathable air source.  Of course, you can paint it yourself if you do your homework as to the correct equipments to provide for your and your neighbors safety.  All is available online or from your local dealer.

Thanks for the suggestions...Im way out in the boonies miles from anyone, so painting here wont be a problem. How about the new AMD metal, any special prep needed? Its already primed in black, can I just clean it up and shoot it with the yellow or what?

Chatt69chgr

Thats a good question CaptMarvel.  I have some AMD metal that I'am going to install too.  Hopefully, someone on here will know the answer about the primer.
