What color was your fiberglass housing prior to restoration? The reason I ask is because I see people painting theirs black but mine is a dark brown from the factory.

This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Mine is a dark charcoal as well.  The same heater box was used from 66 to 70 as far as I know.  It doesn't mean that it wasn't brown for some reason in 68 but when I did the one in the 67 I used a 70 Charger one for parts and it was identical to my 67.  I know my 69 one was charcoal as well because I had it in and out so many times.  And by dark charcoal I mean that mine have all been nearly black.

Dark Charcoal I guess.  After giving it a thorough cleansing, It really didn't need to be painted.  The texture is not smooth either.  Sorta like fiberglass with light colored strands and speckles showing.  I have a shot of it somewhere if you'd like to see.

I guess you would call mine the dark charcoal as it is a grayish brownish black and has fibers showing though the part.

Mine has the fibers showing too but it's a dark brown. If I took a picture it would probably look black but I'll try it and see how they turn out.

Yeah, thats probably what my color is.  Kinda like a wet dirt look to it.

Want to see my cool "before" pics? The mice got busy and started grabbing my dog's food to store in various places before I started tearing the car down. Most of it was found in the heater box and trunk lid. Now the mice are all dead and the dog food is gone. :2thumbs:

resq302

Nice.  Would have been funny turning it on and seeing all the dog food get shot out at you. :smilielol:

Yea, I have to wonder how much of this activity was witnessed by the dog.
