OK so I just put mile 1000 on the Scow since its rebirth. 1000 miles of hard city driving, and apart from a little slop between 2nd and third, no major problems have popped up. The only real problem was a battery cutoff switch that kept screwing up, and having to tweak the carb a few times.Oh yeah and a couple of the buttons on my super-expensive Legendary seat covers came off. IRRITATING.

so I am thinking phase 2 is about to take place....thinking hard on installing the Passon overdrive kit, and installing taller gears...will probably do that in the next month.

Finally sourced a bodyshop that I can trust, even tho they are 80 miles away, and they gave me a very decent qoute on replacing my rear quarters and dutchman....so that will happen fairly soon as well.

I grow increasingly happy with my Charger. It seems to run better every day and I have got my driving technique dialed and feel super comfortable driving it aggressively or passively. I am very happy I fixed this car up. it just keeps being more fun. I pretty much dont drive my other cars at all anymore.

ADDICTED.

hey man you have a roadrunner..I am jealous of YOU.

I have a rather long wishlist of upgrades for the next year or 2:

overdrive kit
taller gears
new sheetmetal out back
new glass all the way around
a domelight
replace seat buttons !
paint
vinyl top
linelock
weld in the damn torque boxes
tubular LCA's
dial in my heads and rocker arm assemblies to accept a bigger cam more suitable for my compression and install my dual crossram
manifold
set of cheater slicks

if I can get all of that done, then I will feel the car is 100% done.

lol.

...the two interesting aspects have been tracking down all the squeaks and rattles...its been a process for sure....pretty much have been able to eliminate them all except fro one really irritating tiny buzzy one somewhere in the dash. I think at some point I may have to pull everything off and maybe spray a really light layer of 3m rubber on there and then re-assemble it.

the Proform dual mechanical carb has also required more or less weekly tuning. when it's on the sweet spot, amazing, but it sure does like to go out of whack in the back and flood a bit. I am wondering if maybe I have a lemon, or need a tilted plate or what. Or maybe thats just how they are. It has been a bit more stable lately tho, but I have had to replace the plugs once allready due to it's antics.

..still waiting for my turn in the shower so I guess i will eat up more bandwidth...anyways, in 1000 miles of brutal driving, I flog the car constantly, trying to break it, none of the mechanical stuff has had any problems. I am sort of amazed by this, it seems the aftermarket vendors sell good stuff. All of the stuff that has 'failed' or not fit, or has ended up being generally dissapointing has been the aftermarket cosmetic stuff. Or maybe thats just the way it is due to the 'sloppy' nature of the basic original build from the factory 40 years ago?

I am jealous because you have a driver! I have another year to wait until the baetings begin! I am glad you are enjoying the car and with that Dana and A833 you will be able to beat it up good. I have never broken either and have done some bad stuff!!

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

I'm sure others wil chime in on this, but the seatbuttons coming off is'nt something new...... I guess the right was is wait till they come off then try not to loose them and glue them back on.
Why the importance of not loosing them :   Because from what I can remember from other threads you can't get them seperatly (correct me if i'm wrong though)...

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

WOW Frank, you just gave me a really good reason where I should go next time when I visit the States.

I know. It's sad. I am getting that weird problem that when I look at the car, all I can see is what is wrong or missing!

Don't you hate that. My prep for paint is taking me forever as I just keep seeing things and think it is OK and then know I would always second guess myself so fix it and I am talking about puttying  in places a person would never see.

:scratchchin: All my buttons are original to the interior i took out of the '69 SE parts car,.. back about '86 I've had these seats some amount of time now and all the buttons are still there... sure the seats have some rips, some  stitching is coming out of the rear seat... but me thinks it's a reproduction problem not a original problem... your new seat covers are what,..  three Mos. old?..
I been whompin on my car eveytime i drive it, other then frame damage from taking the Fell Street Hill at 80+  I've have had no problems with the Juggernaut since i put the Big Block stuff in waaaay back in ye 'ol 1999...  :2thumbs:

BTW: Now speakin of visiting S.F. dpm68 and his girl came to town from Colorado this week, yesterday I took them blastin' around the city,.. I took 'em by Franks' (SFRTs) we did stop and check out your car frank,.. (and the cool rides in the garage where your parcel shelf is being made - met Kong too) anyhow,.. I took the tourists out to a primo Italian late lunch at the U.S. Cafe in North Beach,..  went and took pics at the G.G. bridge and at the palace of fine arts,.. quite literally blew a "SMART" car off the road on Broadway, set off a few car alarms,.. them dropped them at Mo MA (Museum of Modern Art). and they're off to Big Sur National Park today... Great Folks really enjoyed our time togeather.
Anytime anyof you folks get to S.F. I'd be happy to take you for a ride in Mr. Toads' Wild Ride...  :eek2:
