Was having a discussion with another forum member and was wondering, did every charger or 3rd gen charger come with power window wiring or did they add that only if it was optioned?

Was wondering because my charger has the wiring for power windows but has manual windows. Im figuring they all had the wiring or mine was a power window car and someone changed it to manual.

I just had both my door panels apart within the last few days and I have manual windows and I saw no wiring inside the doors on my 73...

I'm toward to that.

Power window cars require lot of extra job ( holes on doors and kick areas to grommets ) and wiring, relay and breaker that would cost money to assembly plant for something you wouldn't pay at dealer for it if you got manual windows on doors.

POWER windows and other extra acc's where not wired from the factory unless it was called on the broadcast sheet.

as stated- holes, door panels and wiring had to be added onto the car.

todays cars the wiring is all there-  plug and play for the extra's!!!!

well, that could be pretty much because power windows is becoming on a standart equippment with the years I think because the EXTRAS are more sofisticated stuff nowdays

Yep.

Now are power windows an option that would have been on a fender tag? Because i know its a factory ac car but no code on fender tag, also ive heard factory A/C cars also had factory tinted windows (also have those, but not sure they came on ALL A/C cars).

Tinted Windows were "recommended" on A/C cars, not required. :yesnod: :yesnod:

Could it have been a mistake on the line when being built?  :shruggy:
Next time....

I think it was just an option. mine are factory manuals.

Its possible. This car has had a pretty rough life. I dont have the build sheet, i do have what appears to be the origional fender tag, but she was stolen at one point and the vin tag was ripped off the dash. I would say the fender tag is an original item as all the options listed on it are also on the car, just missing the A/C option.
