I just put a new edel 1812 carb on my car, now she is smoking light colored smoke out the exhaust, not the black that would indicate running too rich. Any ideas?

You have three different "colors" that come out your exhaust, blue, black and white. oil, excessive gas, and coolant (condensated water in your exhaust that burns out after a while, especially when cold outside)

By the time you can see the actual colors and tell it specifically the problem is really bad, better than that stick your nose in it and figure out if you smell gas, oil, or coolant. In your case since you just changed the carb I would bet it really is running too rich and that is excessive fuel. Only other possibility is it was running way lean, and you laid into the throttle and busted a head gasket...
