Hello,
How can i balance my 440 with heads on a cheap engine stand?
Should i align the cam and the round part of the stand?

Now ,if i remove the lock pin, it turns with the heads toward the floor and i don,t have enough force to back it up to its "normal" position

Thanks

hmmmm    sounds like someone lacks upper body strength   :hah:    You havent lived until you've tried upturning an iron headed Hemi...    :brickwall:

If you try to align the stand centerline with the cam centerline you'll have better luck  :2thumbs:

 Well,i turned 34 the last week...Maybe i should to start to be worried about this? :scratchchin:

I have mounted the centerline as closest as posible to the center of the cam.
I had to make another hole to the stand arms

I still have not tried to turn the engine but,  is  this bending usual or is itbecause i have bought the worst stand? It was the cheapest, sure

I would be worried with that much "flex"...  :scratchchin:

An all iron 440 definitely will put any light duty engine stand to the test. Especially if you're running an iron pump housing and intake as well. It gets pretty spooky for sure. Once I've got the heads on one, I no longer even think about rolling the motor upside down.

:iagree:
I have put a strong piece of wood under the front part of the oil pan,to relax the stand stress.
I will not try to turn the engine until the heads have been removed.

Guess I have a good one, I have my motor on it with steel heads, doesnt flex, and I can manhandle it upside down and back again  :icon_smile_big:

Yes,you´re lucky then
I don,t know wich are the critical parts or wich are the parts that flex under the engine weight but there are stands wich do not bend

The one with the green engine, does have solid square bar  fingers instead of square tube like the blue one.
I don,t know if this will have very much to see,but it is what i have noticed.

found it too much like hard work keep turning my  all iron 440 over on the stand  :icon_smile_blackeye: when i was putting it togeather last time   :yesnod: ( must be getting old  :'()   ..get a 3 foot long & 3/4 " wide or what ever your current handle is in diameter ... & use it in stead  :yesnod: longer handle less effort required to turn it :2thumbs:
