Hi Dodge Charger Forum members, I had a few PMs so thought I may as well share my custom toy; THE BATRAM. It's a 2006 Dodge Ram SRT/10 - Night Runner Edition. I'm very happy and very proud of the way it has turned out. All but the new upholstery of the seats were done by myself with the help from Dad including all the details, vision and photos/videos so it turly is one of my own creations. There are a lot of fine details and Bat touches that are not shown in the photos below. I won't bore you all to tears with every detail and the mods list, etc. These can be viewed on my website: Carlwalski.Com While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, I'm over the F%#ken moon with it!!

Cheers,
Carlwalski

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Why thank you Sir! I enjoy taking photos (of cars only). They are models to me and deserve the best stage they can be given. No one likes to see a hot blonde with big tits standing in front of bins or power lines, so why should our beloved cars!?! :icon_smile_big: It's just a part time hobby, nothing more.

Thanks Mike. But, as I said, it's all nice getting comments, having nice images on the net but at the end of the day, in the real world, it just doesn't get used as much as I thought it would and it's a lot of coin tied up just sitting there in the driveway. If it's a nice day I'd rather take the Challenger or Charger out. Too many toys, not enough time, something has to give. Looks good and is cool (if I do say so myself) but I need to get real. I've owned it and had my enjoyment out of it, it'll always be my creation, $### in the pocket is better than seeing it just sit there. Plus, an SRT8 Jeep is more suited to my lifestyle (parts hauler, dogs, surfing, golf, booze, birds, mates) and has better performance than the Ram. :)

Awesome pics man. What camera are you using? I would say that your pics are better than many I see in magazines. Love the challenger too. If I ever get a challenger. It will be all white too. It would be a 71 though.

Sweet tuck as well. I have to say that I agree. It's better to put the money in your pocket and let someone else enjoy it than let it sit and do nothing.

Thanks mate, much appreciated. The main one I use on my "shoots" isn't anything fancy, it's a Sony DSC-F828 (8 mega pixels) so it's out dated and under powered now but it is an easy camera to use. I'm still not happy with the aperture and some of the settings I'm using and am learning each shoot what to do and what not to do. I have been told by many that I have "an eye" at bringing the best out in subjects, especially cars. I think that is what it comes down to, the shooter, not the camera (in a non-bragging way LOL). If I could pass on advice it would definitely be to think outside the box and don't be afraid to tilt the camera and use different angles.

Sure beats seeing a car that's half in shot, up someones driveway being overpowered by a weeks worth of house hold trash protruding out of a bin in the background lol. Below are a few shots of my Dad's SRT8 as some examples, nothing over the top, just making each shot a little more dramatic by getting lower/higher and adding tilt (don't tilt too much though). Another important factor is definitely background, it's very important. I never park on grass or in front of "urban sprawl", find something that is interesting but not so much that it takes the impact away from the car, remember, the car is the star! There are heaps of no nos but never really any set rule, any rule with photography can be broken in the right situation. The car and how it sits is important too, eg: wheels turned the right way or interior clutter out the way, etc. If you ever want any tips just ask. I'm no pro myself but enjoy car photography and am keen to help, after all..........who doesn't like eye candy??  ;D

Cheers,
Carl

Thanks for the advice. I love to take pics of cars myself, I have never taken any that good though. Here are a few of mine. I am planing on getting a better camera soon.

None of them near as good as yours though.

Thanks again for the advice.

Looks good to me mate, much better than half of the photos you see on the net by a long shot! :2thumbs: At least you're trying and not just popping your hand out the door and taking some random snaps where ever the camera ends up pointing lol. If I were you I would sit down and plan out some local (or within driving distance) scenic locations. Eg: beaches, rivers, forests, industrial areas, old houses/castles, tunnels, dams, long abandoned roads, the list really does go on. I always, always, take a camera in my cars, just a handheld one so if I spot something neat or a different location I can park up and snap away.

One other note that will help is just be a little careful with background reflections, the Shaker hood shot is cool, but could have been COOL without the lampost shadow on it and a step further, without the building in the back, see poor photoshop example below lol. When you park up, double check to make sure there are no major reflections or "paint distractions" to spoil the shoot. Same again in the 2nd image, the lampost/power line is all over the rear end of the 'Cuda. Keep at it Jeremy, you can only get better. That last shot for me is EASILY the best, I'd be proud of that one myself, great light, no blur, perfect tire angle, clean background, clean lines, good camera angle/height and it's just a great shot that sets the car off. By the way, love the E-Bodies. :yesnod:

Below is a quick before and after example. If you didn't have the background objects in the way and cropped the photo (cropping is a great tool) so the Shaker was more to one side (adds "drama") and a simple black border can make a huge difference. You'll catch on quick, you watch, soon you'll be teaching me. ;D

Thanks! Not sure if you understand it correctly but it's THE BATRAM, fully customised to be something (of which I thought/could see) being a Batmobile type vehicle. As I said, I won't bore you guys to tears all with the list of custom Bat mods, custom voice alarmed (ED-209, Robocop), remote start, headlight delay, custom Batman logo engine start button, reflectors, BATRAM plate with hidden cameras, custom centre caps, too much to list. Not everyones cup of tea, but I like it. ;D The Batman logos are very few and far between, subtle and tastefully done. I saw some Bat"Hondas" etc out there with bright yellow Batman logos on the hood, eBay mats with logos etc, looks very cheap. The photos are pretty much showing the detail of what I did when in reality the logos are pretty much a non in your face item. Thanks for your opinion and input.

Thanks,  that does look a ton better. I hope I can get as good as you. My fave is the pic of the HEMI cuda with the reflection of the challenger in the 1/4. I try to do artsy pics, but sometimes you just have to take the opportunity to shoot however the car is. I will get some better pics of the bee and six pack challenger this year.

thanks again,     Jeremy

No worries mate, once again, I'm no pro, just passing on what I know to help ya, is all.  By the way, that's all I do, try different shots, try those "artsy" shots, if they don't come off, who cares! lol. I take around 300+ shots a shoot/day when I go out to (purposely) take photos of the cars. I end up using/taking around 30 real high quality shots, pretty low success rate (around 10-20%). The rest are blurry, not 100% right or just don't have "the" vibe, etc.

Hey thats a great bunch of vehicles you got there :drool5: The Ram is perfect, by the way, is that a see thru hood?  The challenger is beautiful and i'm glad to see that you aren't afraid to drive it.  And last but not least your Jeep.  It's great to see that a Jeep can look good again...just look at my photo.

Thanks mate! The hood on the Ram is a stock standard one, that's just "trick" photogrophy/photoshop job. Just an easy to do effect that I like to do sometimes. Use a tri-pod, take 2 identical shots, 1 with the hood up, 1 with the hood closed. Then simply use photoshop and the open hood image as a base image, then add the hood closed and "delete" fade the top of the hood away. Use what ever % you like, usually around 50-60% "removed" works best IMO. Give it a try. :) Love the XJ, probably one of the only cars that I've sold, that I'd buy again, in a heart beat. Cheap, reliable, good fun and that classic American army style. Plus, the first SUV. I sold my blacked out XJ, and made another one, this time a WJ lol. The ONLY reason I went to a WJ was because of the HO V8 engine, otherwise I'd still have an XJ. May sell the Batram and get an SRT8, I need the cash left over too....like everyone else, I'm broke lol. Here's my current Jeep.

Cheers,
Carl
