Sony PS3 is supposed to be pretty sweet...will likely far superceed Xbox.

Has anyone been keeping track of the Sony PS3? Apparently it incorporates a ton of capabilities...IMO it will absolutely blow the Xbox out of the water. It will have ports for USB, has SEVEN 3.2ghz processors, 54gigHD, will play DVD's, is 100% backward compatible, cellular capabilities, HDTV enhanced, will read dual layered blu-ray discs, Blue Tooth capable, Dolby 5.1, Compact Flash card slots, 2 Teraflops floating point, Ethernet connections...it's a freaking monster.

Downside, it should cost around $300 to $400 when released. I'll wait until it comes down in price and see if any of the new games are worth the upgrade before buying one. Anyone here who can't wait?

Although bevause I subscribe to PSM Magazine, I have seen a few preveiws of some of the games. In a few, human faces look real, totally amazing! They have also shown some pics of the new DRIVER & GRAND THEFT AUTO, and they look really cool!!!!

$300-400 isn't bad. My Atari 2600 cost my dad $200 with one game back in 1978. Adjusted for inflation that is about $600 today.

Yeah right. Sony is the King of Grandiose Promises. None of which they seem to be able to actually fulfill. Microsoft has done a much better job of pulling through on what they say they will do.

Yes. And because of the hard drive, it will pretty much make memory cards obsolete. Although it will use the PS2 cards anyway.

One thing I do NOT like about the PS3, is the crappy boomerage shape controlers. Even the reveiwers of the PS3 in  the magazine did not like them.

Precisely.  The current Xbox is literally twice the system the PS2 is.  The thing is, they buy exclusive deals with manufacturers, delaying releases for the Xbox (Grand Theft Auto).

The Blu-Ray discs are an advantage as far as how much can be stored on a disk, but they may be limited by how fast it can be read.  The Xbox 360 will have three processors, each performing a specific task.  So three slower processors will still outperform two faster ones.  So, I expect Xbox to continue the tradition of better graphics that no one pays attention to.

I think PS3 and Xbox 360 will be more closely matched in performance than any competing consoles yet.
