My 73 did not come with a right hand mirror and I bought one last year that I will put on soon...What kind of screws were used to attach them? Is it a machine screw and nut? Or could I get away with a self tapping screw? Thanks...

machine thread screw , chrome with a rivet nut in the door to screw in to

mmmmm  :scratchchin:

Bill are you sure?

all 71/74s I have seen are with a backing plate with nuts inserted. I think the rivet nut was a 70 only stuff.

Unless the rivet nut is to passenger side only  :scratchchin: ?... I used a backing plate thought  :shruggy:

I think rivets are a 70 stuff because you can see on gasket just one hole cut out on gasket for a while 71/74s have several cutouts ( or bigger ) to be able to fit the backing plate fastener clip and don't disturb the gasket location

this is a repro part but I have seen original gaskets with same cut outs setup on the web to 70s Models

Nachos correct, its a backing plate no rivet nut.

Give me some time but i might have a set of screws, a gasket, and a backing plate

I just bought a set of gaskets...The right side mirror I have is from a 71 I think...They look very similar, but are a bit different..

Nacho-RT74

yes, 71/72s are diff than 73/74. laters are with wider screws location and narrowed ends
