Most of you guys know the '68 Charger under the tarp I've been watching rot away for atleast 10 years now. Anyways, I've asked twice about it. The first time, a guy at the house said he had to go out so I couldn't at that time. The second time (back in February), an older lady who couldn't speak English too well answered and said no, I couldn't look. However, Matt (C-PUNK) has gone there a few times and they have allowed him. Well I was back in Vancouver working on the Duster at my grandparents (the '68 is a few blocks away) and I noticed a sign in the yard next door (the people own the yard and the property with the house & the Charger) talking about Single Family Homes being built in the property. My dad said because the fence is two different colours (one colour for the property & the other for the house/Charger) that they will just be building in that one property but for some reason, in my gut...I'm thinking the Charger is gonna end up dissapearing. The actual owner of the car moved to Poland from what the guy told me and completley forgot about the car. I'm thinking it might end up going to the junkyard. I was trying to get my dad to go with me to check it out (me and him checked it out back in 2001 or so) but he said he dosen't want to bug the guy unless he has money to buy the car which he dosen't right now. The car keeps getting uncovered a little more everytime I see it. It was first the lower part of the front wheel, then the lower part of the fender too...now the half the door, fender and the whole rocker is exposed. But I'm thinking by the time he gets the money, it might be gone. What should I do? Should I ask about it again (like if the houses will affect it) or just leave it alone and hope for the best? :shruggy:

I also forgot to mention that my dad might be getting money when my mom sells our house this summer (my dad gets a part of the sales as per the divorce agreement) but if the car will still be there by then, who knows :shruggy:

The question is..... if they let you look at the car, then what? are you planning on buying it or just want to have a look? Call one last time and ask if its for sale, if they say no i would not bother them anymore.  :Twocents:

Well they were trying to sell it to me and my dad back in 2001 for $4000 so it could be bought. I'm not really that worried on looking at it...I'm curious about asking if building the houses will affect it.

Stop by and talk with them about it. Give them your phone number and name and ask them if they ever want to get rid of it to call you. Thats what i would do.

Best thing possible is with cash in hand...I'd go with 30 fresh hundred dollar bills and be sure to wave them around for incentive. Could always negotiate from there...beyond that you may lose the car if there are other interested parties..
Maybe you should let me know where the car is.... :shruggy: ..could maybe keep it in the DCcom family...lol

if you are serious about buying it dude then definitely go w cash (like bills) in hand...regardless of what was said prior, having the money 2 ft from them can totally change what they say...

First off, sorry to here about the divorce.  I know it can be hard.  I would ask about it I guess.  Is it an R/T?  Find out what you can and go from there. I couldn't hurt.  Good luck Cody.

I'd say either go with the cash, or just go and talk with the guy and say you're interested in buying, how much he's asking, etc.

It's a base '68 with a locked up 383. My dad has always wanted to do an opposite of mine. Instead of a silver '69 w/ a black R/T stripe..he was thinking a black '68 with silver R/T stripes and a black vinyl top.

I lost several cars by getting confused as what to do, or afraid to ask, and they were sold without me.  A 57 Chevy conv.  300.00  :brickwall:
No pain no gain.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Here's my other problem. Regarding what it's worth. It's all complete. Locked up 383. Has a '69 tailight panel instead of the '68 for some reason. Almost every piece of sheetmetal is rusty from what I understand from Matt (C-PUNK). Underside was very similar to my '69 however, that was back in 2001. What it's like now...who knows. What do you guys think it's worth? Ballpark?

Find out more about the thing, thats the ONLY way your going to ever fine out bro. setting back and thinking and wondering will not get you no where at all. Then later after the car is gone, you'll be setting back wondering what would have, if's, and not knowing the answers to the questions that you was wondering about because you didn't go ask. 

A car like you are saying is worth around 4000.00 I would think.

Take some pictures of your car with you and show them your car.  Then ask them if you could have that 68 because you need the parts for your car.  Don't offer to buy it, just ask if you can have it and maybe help them with yard work or something so you could get it.   :2thumbs:

I know when i was your age ,I had a Roadrunner and it took every cent i had to maintain it and put gas in the tank. I was in school and worked two part time jobs. Here is my advice, stick to one project at a time. No since in having a bunch of cars that your going to fix up some day. Even now, 20 years later i see a project that i would like to buy, but walk away because i want to drive the car i'm working on in the near future. I figure the more projects i buy ,the longer it will take to get my charger on the road. my  :Twocents:

Its always worth asking about imo. The day that I went to the house with the challengers I was sh!tting bricks thinking what if whoever owns the house was just having a really bad day and owns a shotgun but it worked out. Its also important to consider that you want them to know you mean business about buying it. Make sure you're presentable and maybe even take an older friend with you. It'd be a shame to let any charger slip away.

I Agree, at least go and look at it if you dont have the $ tell them to call you when or if they decide to sell.
