What could be causing my car to eat up starter relays? This is my 2nd one in a week. It is from OReily auto parts. I replaced the battery with a higher CCA, replaced the voltage regulator, starter, ballest resistor, neg battery cable and ignition module before all this started happening. Help Nacho.

My Bro. had a Ford Van that the starter was the problem...it drove me nuts trying to help him fix it. Damn thing cranked over OK but drew like a dead short while doing it. After that I'll pull a starter and check it right away if there is any problem.  :yesnod:

I put in a new relay and it starts and runs fine.

Bros starter was a rebuild I put in but the van sat for 18 months untouched.(tranny problem) Then it went bad from sitting unused I guess, Good Luck!

Do a starter draw test, maybe it getting really hot at the relay.
