The link says numbers matching.....I heard the only all numbers matching Hemi Daytona 4-speed is the Bronze Otis Chandler/Kevin G/Tim W car.

Friend of mine has all matching #'s B5 hemi 'tona 4 speed that hasnt seen the light of day since 75' and probably never will....they're still out there...just well hidden.

maxwellwedge

Cool! I wont ask if he wants to sell - I already know his type as I have a couple buddies just like that.  :icon_smile_big:

My info was based on all known and verified cars which the one in question is.

hemigeno

Just some random thoughts about 4-speed numbers-matching HemiDaytonas...

I thought the other 4-speed car that Phil had (the R4) was also numbers-matching?  The one that has a Corporation Blue paint job now...  I heard a rumor it was numbers-matching...
Is Harold Sullivan's red car numbers-matching?  (not sure about that one)
What about the Black & White car that went to England?

Doug S. probably knows a few more of the details about these and other cars.  Danny knows a few things about a few others :-X

:popcrn:

nascarxx29

Harold Sullivan red daytona which came from Poughkeepsie NY where it sold new.Came to NJ.Started as a rolling body less nose and wing in 1978 for $500.00 .When I had a chance but no $30K funds to get it years later as it was all together. It had a 66 or 67 motor at that time.

The England car does not match....the others matched 100% when they were brand new  :icon_smile_big:

I'm not sure about the others you mentioned - I was told by an authority - name witheld - that the Chandler car was the only known Hemi stick that really matched.

If Gregory was involved all bets are off.

nascarxx29

Before the car J9B412548 was Greg Josephs and Otis Chandler and other known owners. It was Don Klumps from Pa .The guy who owned and who also had a matching boat.Had it in New Hope PA car show back in 76.Where Don Bought it from 5000 miles on the car which sold from Ambler PA

What are the glitches or risks to bidding on this?

I did not see any minimum starting bid or reserve quoted.

The reserve is said to be $269k.   I don't think it will have any problem beating that.   It's a well known car you can inspect before you place a bid.

Not that i'm going to... but, can you put in more than one bid in this type of auction?  Say one for $275k and one for $325k in case your lower bid gets bumped by one dollar?   :scratchchin:

There is a deadline where all sealed bids will need to be on the table, so as I see it, there is no second chance.

triple_green

The IRS has contracted Ventura Classics(in Ok City) to sell the vehicle.

If you bid thru IRS you have to provide form 2222 with a 20% deposit (cashiers check). The auction closes 6/6/09.

If I read the IRS listing correctly, the 20% you have to include with your bid has a maximum of only $200. You won't need to include $53,800 to bid $269,000 on the car. But it does say whichever is greater, so I may be wrong.

Nevermind.....LOL

Why would you though? It's not ebay, so there are no buttons to up the offer if someone is higher. Just send in one check instead of two or more.

If you submit two separate bids, your higher bid would take precedence over your lower bid, even if the lower bid would have won the item.    It is not a proxy bid system like Ebay.

hemigeno

I know in the governmental (municipal, state & federal) competitive/sealed bidding procedures that I go through, there is no such thing as offering two bids.  That'd be a quick way to get both of them thrown out.

If they allowed such in a competitive/sealed bid scenario, my guess is they'd only "honor" the highest of the two, but you'd better have the 20% deposit checks with both bids, which is effectively a 40% deposit on some serious dollar amounts.

A383Wing

Which is just a bit more than I have to spare...  :brickwall:

triple_green

I called the guy (Brian Goss 918-744-6767) and talked to him. He still needs a cashiers check for 20% of the bid price. You also have to submit a bid letter with all the details of the bid. He says the car is a very nice low mileage original with one repaint in the original color about 10 years ago. He says it drives very well. He had a local Mopar guy come by and all numbers match and it even has much of the original wear items. What he found that was not original was:
battery, tires and wheels, 2 power steering clamps are screw not pinch. One non original resonator, but good repro.

He says the reserve is $270K. If it is not met then, the IRS will have to decide what to do next. He says the owner does not appear to be trying to get it back. He missed his original 10 day claim period and has not visited the car since it has been at Ventura Classics.

Anyone know someone who has bid on this?

IRS laws only apply to corporations. not individuals. I beat the IRS in 1998 and haven't filed since then. amazing what a person can learn from short wave radio and a couple good books. Of course I'm probably on the red list of the HLS!

Google tells me that its an Album by some cat named Tom Rapp.

http://members.chello.nl/cvanderlely/pearls/disco/lyrics.html

But wikipedia tells me its a quotation from the gospel of Luke.  This i would guess is what he is referring to.

I'd take a guess that the IRS got paid & the auction didn't happen. If that is what happened, I suppose that's a good thing since I'd hate to see anyone lose something because of a tax problem.
