i have always wanted to get a General Lee charger and now I can afford to get one.  I want to know what thing i should look out for and how much i should spend at the maximum.  I know i will be restoring every inch of it, so i don't need a mint one, just one that is solid and no rust.

thanks in advance

Go to the Confederate General Lee Fan Club's websites.  That's kind of the epicenter of the GL world these days.

As for "I just need a decent Charger to fix up that's not too rusty" .  .  . you want that, and so does everyone on this website.  And most car guys throughout rural America.  The best advice I could give you is to buy one that's restored to some extent.

If you're not shopping with at least $10K then I'd say don't bother.  Maybe you can do your own work, but you still need a whole car worth of workable raw materials to start with.

You'd save yourself a lot of trouble in the long run if you'd spend more like $15-20K intially.

Surprised you don't know the car, it's up in your neck of the woods,

It's been in both the TV shows and the movie  :slap:

I'm just wondering if it's a real R/T, then it might be worth the $35K?

Then again, you never know, aren't the Smith Bros up in or around SF

Smith Bros. are in Washington State.  They build brand new GENERAL LEE's starting at $45,000 and up.  The base model at $45k is all brand new.  Not bad at all.

What's wrong with the Smith Bros.?  So far I don't remember hearing anything negative about them.  :shruggy:

IIRC, they're on the Columbia River east of Portland somewhere.  Don't know which side of the river they're on.

There is nothing wrong with them.  The Smith Bros are the way definetly the way to go.  They do great work, and are all around fantastic people.  Here is the General Lee I had them do for me:

They also did the metal work, paint, and interior of the work on this for me, which we just took down to Vegas for the Knight Rider Festival a few weeks ago:

Their website is www.smithbrosrestorations.com

PM me if you want more details on them..

I wasn't knocking them: I know their a quality outfit, I thought they were in SF/northern CA and it might be one of the cars they built up sale!
